Who builds Rimfire Benchrest rifles and at what price?

I am just starting to have interest in Rimfire Benchrest.

I could not find many articles on this. Who are the bests gunsmiths to build such a rifle, web sites?) and what are the prices I can expect to pay?

Thanks!

You can find what you're looking for at rimfirecentral.com. The members are absolutely great and will be happy to give you advice.

Thanks Hethin.

I "am" there too.
I want all the information I can get. Rimfire benchrest is so new to me! ,I have to learn how a tuner works, what the best models, rifles prices, accuracy needed on scores matches etc).

Kinda like the sign in the speed parts shop:

Speed costs money,

How fast do you want to go?

Same thing with accuracy.............If you go to the RimFireCentral board and check out their rimfire for sale board, you'll find a Calfee built shooter for low $3's as in 3K$.

To find alot of stuff about RimFire benchrest go to www.benchrest.com its the best site for that stuff.

After some research, talking and a great help from Mr. Joe Haller, from Michigan, I am building a custom Remington 40X with Brian Voelker.

I expect the rifle to be a shooter! And with a good rifle I will have to improve my shooting and table manners to really shoot BR Rimfire.

And wind doping abilities.............don't forget flags.

If a 5mph x wind will move 52gr spitzer .3" running 3200fps, imagine how a round nosed, 40gr at 1070 will be affected.

Sounds like a nice choice of platforms as well as smith. What ammo/chamber is he going to do for you?

It sounds like Joe pointed you in the right direction. Brian Voelker is a great rimfire smith. If you haven`t picked out your components yet, Benchmark, Lilja, and Shilen barrels are on a lot of winning guns. Plan on buying a nice windage rest also. I `d check the benchrest dot com classifieds as well.

Varminthunter1, I just bought a Sinclair Windage BR Front Rest a few weeks ago.
I let Mr. Brian Voelker decide barrel brand and he will use Broughton barrel on my 40X.

My next move are to buy a set of flags and learn about wind...

I expect to pick up my rifle around may/june as the McMillan stock will be the last component to be delivery.

It sound like you are well on your way. I hope you don`t live on the west coast, and shoot IR50/50. I don`t need any more competition.
:DBest of luck,
Jeff

LRCampos how did that rifle turn out for you.

varminthunter Where do you shoot IR50/50. I'm new on the forum here and live on the west coast. Would like to get to some of your matches next year if not to far.

Dale

LR,
Where are you located at? There could be a very good Rimfire Gunsmith close to you that you could go visit and look at some of his work.
