Actually that's not bad for CCI SV. In 22rf, accurate ammo costs. Never seen the cheap stuff much better than 1" @ 50 yards (not consistently, anyway) . And I've tried them all.

Really..? I have a plane old Ruger American Rimfire that will keep them in or darn close to 1/2 at 50 yards with CCI standered velocity , it's all I shoot through rimfire... Now the other crap out there it will be about an inch...lol... This time of year I take and rub part of whatever I have for breakfast on the way to the range on the target and shoot the flys off it.... Makes it fun anyway....

Could it be because it's not chambered for the CCI standered velocity rounds....? I do understand that a $3.50 box is not a $10.00 box of course.... Rimfire is picky and I have heard of some guns absolutely hating CCI standered velocity.... Please do post if the new action doesn't like it...

CCI SV will hold about 6-8 inch groups in my Vudoo at 400 yards. It isnt that bad at all.

That’s amazing. You must have won the lot lottery. I can’t see how that would even be possible with the velocity variation between rounds. I’d be curious to run it through a chronograph to what the extreme spread and SD is.

To be fair, 8" at 400 is just under 2 MOA, so not really that amazing even for CCI SV. Yes, there can be wind, etc, but seems that is well within what one should expect of it. Conditions of course will greatly impact if it is really good or not.

Maybe I just haven’t had any luck with it, but the few times I’ve shot it it wouldn’t even come close to that.

I only shoot it with my suppressors and never for accuracy, so I can't say I have any real experience with it at any real distance, but even just ok ammo should shoot 1" at 50 yards most of the time in any decent rifle. Certainly there can be outliers. I am a BR guy so I don't shoot much low cost ammo, so maybe I am skewed a bit in my view.

Don’t know if you do any long distance rimfire shooting, but decent groups at 50 yards don’t necessarily translate once you start reaching out. Sometimes they do but more often they go to heel pretty quick, especially with cheaper bulk Ammo. Even decent ammo like SK or Wolf can give you problems once you get to around 150 - 200 yards/meters.

To better understand why, I weighed a couple bricks a few weeks ago. The majority or the individual rounds fell to a certain weight range near the middle. But towards either end of the average there where always a percentage that fell to the extreme at either end. I’m pretty sure those are the inexplicable flyers we all get from time to time that leaves us scratching our heads wondering if it was us, the wind or the Ammo...

I agree totally. Theres no doubt the wind plays havoc with the little 22LR, but there’s a reason I shoot Center-X, Midas or Tenex now as opposed to wolf or SK at long distance matches.

My point being, the further out you go, the more important SD and ES becomes. I haven’t chronographed SV so I can’t say but I’d wager it’s pretty bad.

Actually you got me curious and I remembered someone already had the info I was looking for. A guy over on Rimfirecentral has chronoed almost anything you can think of and shot it at two hundred yards for groups. Pretty interesting thread with a lot of information. Here’s what he had for CCI SV. Those groups are as large or larger at two hundred yards.

I may try this with one of my guns if I get bored one day. If I am really ambitious, I may even try multiple guns (Savage, CZ, Vudoo, and maybe BR for a good cross reference) although I don't think I will put CCI in my BR guns to test.

I’ve never tried it in any of my bench guns but I doubt it would even chamber. I know junk bulk ammo won’t chamber in my CZ Precision Trainer with a Lilja match barrel. Match chambers are much tighter and even if you did manage to slam some in - which not sure why you’d even want to put that crap in a bench gun but at any rate - I’m sure you’d begin to have lead ring problems almost immediately.
