Whidden Full Length Resizer opinion

I waited a long time to try John's dies because the first couple times I called and tried we just argued :)

None a' yer business..... we just weren't on the same page.

But Time Marches On

I now have a few hundred rounds through a Whidden Fitted FL sizing die and I feel I must comment.
-#1, they hit my asked-for numbers spot on.
-#2, they're properly hard
-#1.1, the die is customized to my requested taper not some sort of copy, this die is a true one-off like no other on earth and has some odd features that are not easy to accommodate.
-#3, the die is smooth and perty
-#4 the die is concentric (many fitted dies are not)

I have absolutely no affiliation with nor connection to John Whidden, just happy with this product.

And I'm not easily pleased by reloading dies.

BTW, this is the first die I've ever owned where they actually hit the LENGTH right on. AGAINST my wishes but I didn't request it to be one way or the other, just assumed it'd be short enough to adjust headspace/shoulder bump.

It isn't

I actually may opt to one day, or be FORCED one day to hack to bottom off..... If I inadvertently get a chamber a half-thou deep THIS DIE WILL SHOW IT!

It's that close. Luckily the three chambers I'm using it in are same-feel-fit and will completely interchange brass cases that have been fired 30-50 times but this die is NUTZ on length.....

I don't think I coulda' done it.

John Whidden's crew did.

I have had nothing but great experiences with John's company as well. All of my comp rifles have a matching Whidden die, except one that is a one off using a Newlon blank.
In feel or function I can discern NO difference between a full custom die and Johns.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

I have had a 3 dies made by Whidden. One was made from a reamer print and seems to be right on. Works great in my chamber.
Die #2 was also made from a reamer print but I won't know how it performs for a few more weeks when the barrel is chambered.
Die #3 was made by them measuring 3 fired cases. I had an odd ball chamber that was really large and using a Redding die, I really had to stand on the press handle to size them down. Worked the hell out of the brass.
The Whidden die, on the first try, came back and I got the exact problem I had with the Redding die. Had to send it back. On the second try, they got it right.

The first "off the shelf" die I bought from John was cockeyed so I sent it back, came back dead nuts on. Ordered a custom click adjustable sizer which is also DNO. Finally convinced a long time shooting buddy to try a Whidden so he orders up a full length sizer and a hydro-forming die for his new 6 Dasher, he is impressed and won't shut up about them.

Just wanted to add that the adjustments on his click adjustable sizers are very convenient and accurate, as are his seaters. John is a delight to deal with and he is incredibly helpful, even with the most minute details.
