Whidden 6.5 Creedmoor Dies

Has anyone used them? Problems with them?

I am building a 6.5 Creed and need to order dies. I read some reviews where people said the dies excessively sized (I understand it could be user induced) but they insinuated they were cut to size cases to min spec. My reamer is a Manson reamer with .170" freebore but should be standard body dimensions.

I have their off-the-shelf 6.5CM FL die for an AR10, a 260 FL custom die made from fired cases, and a 308 FL custom die made from my reamer specs. All work fine and I would call them again if I needed a new die.

I use a Whidden FL die with a .290 Redding bushing and a Redding floating carbide expander ball for my 6.5 Creed, my die does not excessively size my brass

I have a set for my 6.5 rsaum and think they are the nicest dies I've used so far. I've used just about everything except for Wilson in line seaters. There will be more Whiddon dies in my future for sure.

I use Johns proucts and can say that his sizing dies are nicely made..

Having said that , they (the FL dies) do size a good amount and by that i mean the last one i recieved would size the body starting from the shoulder body junction all the way down to the base .003" (after springback) .. When i called and gave them my reamer print they said that die was specifically cut for that reamer.

For my needs , .003" is a tad too much sizing and produced brass that would require trimming (in the order of about .008") after each sizing..

This may be what some are making reference to when they say they size too much.

What dealings I've had with Whidden, if you told him you needed it opened up a little he would do it. In my opinion it's the best dies on the market.

Thanks for all the feedback. I had a pair of back ordered Whidden dies ship today from Midway so we will see how this shakes out. If they size too much I'll see if they can be honed or reamed to open them up a touch.

Whidden will make it right. If it sizes too much just send him fired brass. Its too hard to go off a reamer print- its sure hard for the reamer to match the print then match that when a gunsmith runs it in the chamber.
