Which Vmax weight?

I have a 6mm BR with a 9 twist that was chambered specifically for the Berger 95 grain VLD to be seated into the lands.

I am thinking about using the brass that didn't meet my sorting standards to load up some varmint loads with cheaper bullets. I am thinking about getting either the 75 or 87 gr vmax, but I do not want to have the bullets seated way into the case when they are set up to jump about 10-15 thousands.

If you guys could help me save on a box of bullets I don't need to buy that would be great.

In my 10 twist 6br the 80 grain Noslers shoot almost as good as the 80 gr Bergers with the 75 Vmax running a very close third. I don't think the 6br has enough poop for the 87gr Vmax for anything but paper at long range. In my 6 Dasher 8 twist that is another story however. First place goes to the 95gr Moly Berger second place trades off between the 87 Vmax and the 80gr Nosler BTBT. On Tuesday 01/02/07 I shot a true one hole three shot group,bi-pod rest) with the last two with the nerves enlarging the group to a ho hum quarter size group the load was
34.0gr of Data 74 behind an 87 Vmax and have had similar results with the 80gr Noslers. What I like best about the Noslers is you can buy "seconds" at http://www.shootersproshop.com/ for half the price of the Bergers and for volume shooting at long range they can't be beat.

That's good news! Do you know what the speed is at 300yds I kinda figured it would be a mortar round from my range testing. I might add I was disappointed because that is the bullet I intended for my ten twist barrel in 6BR I might have to look at this closer, I may not be running the 6BR hot enough. Or I may just be so used to the 65s and 70s that the slower/heavier round is giving me the wrong impression. I really do like the performance of the 80 gr Nosler though, lighter and faster. What kind of expansion are you getting at that distance?
Thanks.

Sorry but I have to disagree. I've used the 87 V-Max in my 6BR varmint rifle on groundhogs for three years at ranges out to 600 yards plus. At distances of three hundred or so the bullet doesn't exit. I watched a buddy shoot a female at 320 yards with my rifle and the hydrostatic shock bounced her about two feet straight up with no exit wound. At longer ranges the bullet does exit but the exit wound is the size of a tennis ball.

Those 87's will flat pull a pig plum out of the hole! You can use either the 75 or 87 in your barrel.
