I have a new Varmatch barrel in 223 from Krieger on order, but have to decide between the standard 223 throat, and the match reamer. The 223 throat has a leade that is 3 degrees, while the match reamer has a 1.5 degree throat, to help accommodate single loaded longer bullets.
Since I only intend to use this for varmint hunting with bullets fed from the magazine, would I be better with the three degree throat, so bullets could be loaded closer to the lands with less jump? Or, is there something intrinsically better about the shallower angled throat, even though this would leave more jump in magazine length cartridges?
