Which suppressor?

I agree with you. Would be even better for us that do vermin control on ferals be able to get more out of the mobs in 1 hit . Instead of have a couple of shots before the mobs move off .

I own three YHM suppressors. First was a steel 30 caliber Phantom QD, the second a 30 caliber Ti Phantom QD and the third a YHM Stinger that can be taken apart for cleaning (very important for 22LR cans). The older one of those 30 cal cans is around 13 years old and has bunches of rounds thru it. The Ti is at least 10 year old and has stayed together with untold amount of everything from 22-250 to 300WM. For the AR I have a 15 year old Gemtech that has been tortured to the point of being so hot it melted things it wasn't supposed to.
Suppressor failures do happen to even the best ones on the market. All the guys that have recommended TBAC here probably just haven't heard form several of my friends who had complete failures of those too.
I see now that Ruger has gotten into the game. Wonder what they will be like?
Also, I notice no one has recommended the Banish 30 and I'm not sure why. I believe it is a modular unit that allows for different calibers up to 30 caliber.
I have several YHM and a Banish 30. The thing I have learned about suppressors is that people research and buy what they believe is the best or most affordable and rarely will admit to making a mistake and wishing they had bought another brand. My experience is that suppressors are different wherever you shoot them. Indoors, outdoors, covered range, woods close by or open prairie. Of course, your choice of ammo will also make a difference. Don’t get hung up on the decibels when a few points is involved because tone can be different and sound louder or quieter to different people.

I have a YHM on an AR-10 (308win) It works pretty good.
I am in process on a 30 Nosler (to me from me for Christmas with love!) It will be interesting to see how TB does.

I have a Hybrid 46. It will make my 223 sound VERY quiet as well as bigger rounds. Largest being 338 Lapua Magnum but several others as well.

Interesting to read about suppressors which you use the in US.
I have couple of AseUtra SL5i, Freyr&Devik 196 and few Tikka Optisup Hunt suppressors. Here in Finland you can buy suppressors easily and I do use suppressors on range and also while hunting. Most suppressors here are used for hunting so those are mainly aluminium, for range purposes AseUtra suppressors are made from stainless so those stand more shooting.

I have owned suppressors for many years from several manufacturers. My thoughts are it has become a Ford - Chevy type of argument / decision. Most everyone wants to think they made the best decision on which to purchase and will swear by their preferred manufacturer. Now, some will just buy the cheapest and believe they out smarted everyone else… My thoughts are to consider what your are going to use the suppressor on and realize there is no universal brand or model that will be best for all applications. Now, I believe everyone needs a .22 suppressor that can be owner cleaned / serviced. Depending on the location of where you are shooting, there is a flip in difference of the reported db although some may sound different, they are usually all so close it makes little difference in sound level. Shooting and auto with bolt slap is louder than a bolt gun. The only choice you have in downrange sound is the ammo you use. Faster is louder. Centerfire suppressors need to be owner cleaned / serviced as well and weight is a consideration. A 223 will work fine on a 30 caliber suppressor and even a 45 caliber suppressor. But do you want the larger diameter and weight of a larger caliber unit? Lots to consider but select a company that has a track record of repairs if needed and has been in the business with good reviews.

A while back my friends all had YHM units, I know the Dead air Sandman is a Beast,

I want some suggestions as to what I should be looking for in a suppressor.

I want titanium and a good tight interchangeable locking system.

This will be shared on 6mm, 22 cal, 20 cal and 17 cal bolt action rifles, biggest being a 22 Creedmoor AI, the others being BR case variants.

I’ll probably go with a Dead air Sandman 30 cal on my AR, that should do it, I think…

I’m open to suggestions before dropping coin so I can make a good couple of decisions, any help is always appreciated.

Phil.

Phil,

I bought a 10" Geissele upper last winter and did an SBR. It came with a HuxWrx flash hider so I recently bought a Huxwrx Flow 762.

That SBR is LOUD, I mean like evil loud, but with the Flow 762 (using 55gr and 77gr ammo) it was quieter than my 9mm 1911 with a suppressor. I was actually shocked by how quiet it is. The Flow series is meant to be low back pressure and I did not feel there was any difference in the amount of gas in the face from shooting suppressed vs unsuppressed.

I got the 762 can b/c it is supposed to be a little quieter than the 556 can, also, since it's so light, I think I'm going to have my 7mm SAUM cut down and threaded.

Good Luck
