Which suppressor?

Phil

Gold $$ Contributor
A while back my friends all had YHM units, I know the Dead air Sandman is a Beast,

I want some suggestions as to what I should be looking for in a suppressor.

I want titanium and a good tight interchangeable locking system.

This will be shared on 6mm, 22 cal, 20 cal and 17 cal bolt action rifles, biggest being a 22 Creedmoor AI, the others being BR case variants.

I’ll probably go with a Dead air Sandman 30 cal on my AR, that should do it, I think…

I’m open to suggestions before dropping coin so I can make a good couple of decisions, any help is always appreciated.

Phil.

Silencerco scythe titanium. I have three of them. Love is not too strong of a word.

Look at Diligent Defense, a Dead Air TI knock off that is about $400 cheaper and sounds the same, Waiting on the 2nd batch to my Class 3. Sound great.

I have 2 centerfires. So I can weigh in on what you should not buy. But first, if you want a quick attach system, you should do some research and get a system that will interchange among various manufacturer's. Some are prone to failure because their design is not well thought out.

Silencerco - I have a Hybrid 46. I have had one major failure with their ASR mount. It came loose going into a tree stand and when I shot it spun of the threads and landed in the broom straw around the stand. Took me quite a while to find it, but it only punched a hole through the endcap. I got what I consider very poor customer service. When I told them what happened, the first thing out of his mouth was that the eccentric locking ring loosens over time. He sent me a video explaining how to retension it and promised to send an endcap - then he ignored further emails about the endcap.
Then the outer case came loose off the buffer stack. When I called, the rep said put Loctite on it and put it back together. I have not, and will not buy another Silencerco product. They have even had some of their models have catastrophic failures that damaged the shooter.

I bought a Rugged Razor because I got a fantastic deal. The locking system is a real pain on it and sometimes I have to really fight to get it off.

You really should do a lot of research to avoid buying something that does not suit your needs. I like suppressors that are large, with a lot of volume because I want the most quiet I can get. Compact designs like the Razor aren't as efficient. I have some friends that shoot long range (and who have attended schools for that regimen) who only use direct thread and mark the suppressor and barrel with a dot of Whiteout. The suppressor stays on the rifle for the duration.

I temper all this with the fact that I know a lot less and have a lot less time with silencers than most people on this forum do.

Based on customer service when I had questions about maintenance for a rimfire suppressor, I would personally buy something made by Thunderbeast. And I might even call them and talk to a human about it.

Best of luck.

If you buy a Diligent Defense Wolf Hunter (6mm titanium) it’ll come with a 1/2x28 and a 5/8x24 HUB. I’d imagine those 2 fit everything you have. You won’t have to buy a bunch of muzzle brakes.

I think Dead Air are great also. I’d get a Nomad over a sandman. I don’t know if they are HUB compatible or not?
