Which side port

I am strong right handed and shoot right handed. Considering a single shot .22 build. You might say I am clumsy with my left hand. Should I consider a left or right port?

I'm very right handed and a RBLP is very natural to me. I'll probably never owner another RP br action. My preference is a RBLPRE or drop port. No rf dp actions but the rest still applies.

I'm also a right handed shooter and have gotten use to a left port
right eject on my single shot BR rifles.
I just had a single shot long range rifle built and had it with a right bolt
and left port, left eject. Liking it so far.
I like the fact that when I'm loading or ejecting a round, I can see it without
moving my head much. With a right eject, you have to move your head over the
stock to get a good look into the action.
I'm not competing so I don't have to "fling" the brass out quickly for the next shot.
This would apply to a rimfire single shot action as well.
Magazine feed, not so much.

I always shot RBRP until I bought a used rifle built on a Savage "target" action that was RBLP for a "bench" gun. I actually didn't even think of that when I was negotiating with the guy and drove about 400 miles to meeting him to make the deal. When I saw the rifle and finally realized it had a left-port I was disappointed, but bought it anyway. Ultimately, I loved it! I've since sold that rifle and now am again shooting a RBRP, because the deal was too good to turn down. But I would much prefer a RBLP.

RBLP for me too! It puts the port right under your nose, no looking or feeling around for it. It's natural!!
Yep, natural is the best way to describe it, I believe. I know left handers who taught themselves to be very proficient with their off hand, that thought they didn't need "proper bolt and port orientation.. but I think every one of them love a rifle that is actually correct for them in this regard. I believe it's the same with most anyone...once you try it, it's just plain natural and you won't likely regret it.

Do you load right side on your Anschutz? I always load left the port is low enough same with the H & R I built.
in a couple of weeks, I know what a Mi8 can do;)

Unless you have a missing part, and shoot a RBLP Stiller Lonestar. Makes it really hard to drop it in in the tray when you’re a right handed fella. My Vudoo is a right bolt right port. Much easier to load. Todd

Lee,
No, I don't load my Annie from the left , the scope is in the way LOL! But if I build a new rifle it will be RBLP . I certainly learned my lesson with the "8MI" question on the "other" forum! I've had several very good conversations privately with people who won't post publicly over there, for obvious reasons. Simple (apparently stupid) question - nobody could take the to explane, but a dozen make the effort to ridicule me. Lesson learned.

Yeah, I read that thread it should have been answered with more dignity.
I understand about the scope being in the way, my scopes are either in front or behind the ports.

Yes, I load my Annie from the right . I will be interested in your impressions of the 8MI - I won't make that mistake again LOL.

It has a high bar to climb, the .900BM I shot last season did the really well. same smith is doing the Mi8 so I know the quality of the work will be top notch.
