which scope and scope rings?

I finally chose the Savage 10T-SR 6.5 Creedmore and it comes with the DOA scope rail.
what are some good scope rings for that rail? i'm used to the basic screw on ring bases
and haven't really looked for bases yet. and without going overboard on pricing what is a
good 4x-14x sort of scope?

I use Burris Signature rings with the plastic inserts and am very pleased. I don't have enough experience with scopes in the range you are looking for to make a good recommendation.

To get additional elevation for long range shooting primarily I believe. You'll need to use the eccentric pairs to do this. You can also use them (oriented vertically) to correct windage mis-alignment. The biggest thing for me is they eliminate the need to "lap" rings and they won't damage your scope tube. Google'em. Some love them and some don't.;)

Look for 4 or 6 screws on the rings.
Various rings I run for 100 bucks or less.
Sig Saur
Vortex
SWFA
Warne cantilever but its $109

You can always get a set of Burris also, almost bought a set of these.
Seems everyone else was needing same size/height as me.

As far as scopes.
Look at our classified board.
I picked up 7 rifle and 1 spotter in last year.
The savings to be had is huge, plus a it helps out fellow shooters.

What is your intended use of the rifle? DOA? The Burris signature rings are nice, the polymer inserts are much easier on the finish of an optic and you don't have to lap the rings. I believe it actually grips the optic better and gives an extra level of protection against shock. I had a set of the signature dovetail version years ago and they are no doubt the best dovetail rings on the market. The only dovetail rings I'd ever own again because the polymer inserts act like a ball joint...hence, no lapping required. Great for a practical hunting rifle.

However, if you desire meatier rings, continue looking. Many options on the market. What optic are you using?

Seekins rings and bases are good to go and reasonable. Used Badger/Mark4 rings can also be had for a good price. Neither would require (or benefit from) lapping. Don't skimp on bases and rings!

Another option for quality rings is Hawkins Precision. Good people and great products!

I'm interested in some long range target work and woodchucks.
I've got a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 mounted on a Rem. 700 Varmit 22-250 that i'm going to mount on the
Savage 10T-SR 6.5 Creedmore. after shooting that for a bit i'll decide what scope I need to go with.

I'm agreeing with BCz on this one for sure check out SWFA 3 screw tactical rings $39.00 for excellent quality rings the 30 mm also come with 1 inch inserts to be used or set aside therefore two sets for the price of oneIMG_0910.JPG . If you look closely I believe there the same as Burris XTR and Vortex
