which rimfire action for a custom project

I'm wanting to build a 22 LR for myself. No interest in semi auto. What is available in terms of buying an action?

I'm wanting a repeater that I can barrel myself. Lathe work is not a problem.

I am a very biased fan of Stiller Precision Firearms actions. They have 3 rimfire models available. I think one of them is a repeater. I also really like actions by Alan Hall. My .22 LR bench rest rifle is built on a Hall single shot action. The shooter hasn't a clue as to what he is doing but the rifle really does.

Look around, a few Winchester 52's are still floating around. They have won zillions of matches and barrels are easy to install. While looking try to get a 52C or 52D, they have the best bolt and lock time. I know I am showing my age, but they can be found at a good price and many shoot great as is.

If your looking to build a sporter, the Sako Quad is a nice piece. The factory trigger will go down to 8-10 oz. It is a flat bottom action and will bed well.

Here's a second vote for a Winchester 52... I have a 52c with a Lilja barrel, a Kenyon trigger and a Master Class stock... It's competitive with just about anything.

The Turbo is the king when it comes to the custom actions. The best out of a standard production action would be the Anschutz Model 54. However if you wanred to save a few bucks you can pick up a Remington 40X for a really good price. I am very biased to the 40X as it is the gun I used while shooting Jr smallbore as a kid.

There is all kinds of ways to go. But a lot depends on what you want to do with it.
What have you got in mind? Have you got a budget?

i have a nice 52c winchester that i am selling for a friend.
it has 1 magazine, and looks to be in good condition.
the rifle was purchased from the cmp.
asking $800.00
thank you

Prolly sold it by now. That was 6yrs ago.
I would caution buying high priced items from no feedback sellers.
