Which Reticle ?

Im going to purchase a new scope a Nightforce 8-32x56 NXS, for my ackley 243. I cant decide which reticle.
I shoot mainly dogs hogs any input on what someone is shooting would be great. 300-700 yards typical

I prefer the NP-R1 for LR, which has 1 MOA holds for elevation, and 2 MOA for wind.

The NP-R2 has 2 MOA points for elevation, and 5 MOA for wind.

If you were inclined to play some in less than good light, I prefer the R2 with the illumination on.

R-1 or the new MOAR (minute of angle reticle)

I used a R1 to make a 1637 yrd kill. It gives you good information that is easy to judge for follow up shots. Mike

I have the R1 and R2 on varmint rigs and like the R2 better.

Believe it or not, this is a very rare subtension, unavailable from most scope makers.

I prefer the NP-R1 reticle for small targets at LR. Although if I were ordering a new NF scope I would probably go with the MOAR reticle.

Make that 2 for the MOAR. Just makes sense to me. Especially if your turrets are in MOA.

Just a thought on the MOAR. The MOAR looks really busy when looking at squires and dogs around sage brush and such.

I own a R1 and R2 and while the R2 may be faster for some, there is no doubt I prefer the R1. Follow up shots are easier to make accurately and at extended ranges the R2 is a bit spare.

R1 or MOAR. I'm probably going to drop the coin on a "christmas tree" some day.

NP-R1, or as said MOAR. I have NP-R1, & Love it, but, that was before MOAR came out. Either, & I think you would be Happy. Mine is 5.5-22x50 NXS

np2-dd. surprised nobody suggested this one. i shoot varmints and don't like reticles that are busy with lines and numbers all over the place. it takes a little time to get accustomed to the tiney dot but the thick lines pull your attention to it quickly. at 32 power you can move the dot from eyeball to eyeball, then decide where you want the bullet to go. one downside is when acquiring varmints in shade/shadows...the dot may be hard to find, but the thicker lines help here. i have three.

I have 2 nightforces one with npr1 and one with the MOAR in it ..
I think they both are great but I think the MOAR ret. is better in every way
