Which rear bag?

So, again, like in my post on which rest to buy, I need to know what to use for a rear bag now? Again, I’m new. I have a tactical style rifle and it has a Magpur prs buttstock. Yes, I understand it’s not a benchrest rifle, but for now it has to do. So, 2 questions.

1. I notice Edgewood and Seb make different widths between the ears? Do I want the space to be the exact same as my stock? My rifle does not have a v shape like the benchrest stocks. So I do not know, Or do you buy the bag undersize. Any recommendations?

2. Does anybody know who may make a track plate that attaches via key mod? I have a seekins flat bottom rail.

Thanks

1. It is best to have the butt ride on the bottom of the bag, 'guided' by the ears. You will have a problem with the Magpul PRS as it is fat and round. The cover over the Pic rail has a tendency to slide under recoil...I tacked mine in place with a little epoxy resin. The rail cover is also textured a bit. It would be nice to have a \_/ shaped adapter to slide over the Pic rail and I would have made one if I did not sell off my machine tools post divorce...grrrrrrr:). I stuck with the current cover and waxed it heavily with a hard paste wax and buffed frequently. I used an Edgewood gator with 5/8" spacing as I new I would be building a proper F-class rig and did not want to have a bag with a wide ear spacing that was not good for the dedicated gun.

2. Easy solution for the front rider...if you have a decent true cutting table saw or, better yet, access to a vertical mill. I am going to direct you to a thread where I posted my solution: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/th...for-benchrest-shooting.3947121/#post-37172133 See post #2

This was done for a Ruger PR, 6.5 Creedmoor with a Seekins flat bottom guard (very nice piece BTW..as with all of Seekin's products) and a Magpul PRS butt. It was better that my other option at the time...nothing...but I was able to get my midrange HM classification at 600yds with it so plenty good enough to start this dangerous path you tread:eek:.

I had the same issue with the cover on my prs sliding off on recoil. I decided all I really needed was an A2 stock and an egw bag rider on both stock and forend. Rides the bags great, and much cheaper.

It almost looks like the Buttstock rail can be gutted and affixed to the prs??....
