Which Rear Bag for F/TR - MPA Hybrid Chassis

I've put together a new F/TR rifle for this year using a trued Remington 700 action and a 30" medium Palma barrel in a new MPA Hybrid Chassis. I also ordered the Hybrid Chassis Weight kit from MPA to get this rifle up to weight, but it's been back-ordered since early December.

The weight kit comes with their steel enhanced bag rider. I wanted to have it in hand before I ordered a new rear bag - I've been shooting F/TR with a tactical style rifle and a squeeze bag - so I'm making a big change with this chassis and a Phoenix Precision bipod.

Problem is that I'm getting really close to my first match of the year and I want to order the rear bag now instead of waiting for the MPA kit to arrive. I'm leaning toward a Protektor bag, but I don't know the optimal spacing. I checked with Protektor to see if they knew, but they told me to measure my stock with the bag rider - which I can't do.

So, if anyone has experience with this set up, please let me know what worked for you. Flat or angled bag, ear height and material, and spacing - I hate to make an uninformed choice, but I need to get the bag sooner rather than later.

Get the exact width of the bag rider from MPA. Then contact the rear bag company of your choice, inform them what you'll be using, and give them the bag rider dimensions. They'll get you set up with proper ear spacing (stitch).

I use a Edgewood mini gator bag that I've been having forever. Don't remember the exact ear spacing, I think its 3/4 inch wide. The ears aren't tall on my bag. Either will work. The bag Willbas posted above looks nice and should work well also.

As for the weighted kit that MPA offers for the chassis, it's nice. I have the kit but with my current setup I didn't need it, I'm about 5-6 oz under the FTR weight limit with a 30 inch heavy varmint contour barrel, Borden action, flex bipod, and NF benchrest scope. Best of luck with your chassis setup.

MPA also makes an aluminium "enhanced" bag rider too, if you need less weight. Much lighter than the steel one and in stock...

I"m using a 30" medium Palma barrel and really need some extra weight - which is why I decided to order the full weight set which includes the steel bag rider. If I had any idea that the darn thing would be on back order for over 45 days I might have done something different. Since I already submitted payment, I really don't want to order the aluminum bag rider now.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll probably go ahead and order the bag that Wilbas sent the link for.
