I also found that the cases are not quite uniform those within .003" were the best.On the other hand my son got his very best results using these Lapua palma in his TRG 22.German Salazar said:Gary, I'm glad you're enjoying the site, thanks!
Steve, I hope we'll see you here for the Arizona Palma Championship in December! It would be nice to get a burger together and talk about this fun stuff.
As you saw in your testing, the small primer .308 is a marginal setup and if the combination isn't just right, undesirable things can happen.
Someone asked about the Wolf small rifle magnum primers, please bear in mind that they are the mildest of all the small primers, notwithstanding the "magnum" designation. As much as I love them for the 6BR, they would not be my choice in the .308 case. I did my testing with the CCI BR4 which is mild but "bigger" than the Wolf. Once I go beyond that level, the hotter small primers are in the range of the Wolf large rifle primer so the question then becomes: "what have we gained?"
I may do some additional testing with it as our long-range season begins soon, but I remain pessimistic about this case. In my opinion, it increases the possibility of failure in a match while offering - at best - a minimal gain in statistical performance and one that I haven't been able to validate on paper at real distances. But I remain open-minded and willing to learn.

Still, it is necessary to go through all the steps to make certain I am not missing something. If good results are obtained at ~50° F, then it will fill my need.
It all depends of what your game is for Palma shooting it
might be irrelevant. At this time I am trying to get the smallest group possible out of this rifle and that happens all the time with lapua palma brass. It is not my choice it is the rifle's one.
sincerely
