Which powder dispencer u use?

Hey guys, I was wondering which of the powder dispensers do ya favor or like to use, manual or eletronic.

I'm currently using the Lyman 1200 elec. dispenser and have mixed up feeling about it. I would like to get some input of which route should I go to get pretty accurate measurments. I hear the RCBS 10-10 is a good scale, though manual dispensed balance beam.

Any input would be great, whether its elec. or manual scale/dispenser.

thanks..tbeasley

I use the Lyman 1200 too. I don't really have any issues with it. Some people complain about the cleaning but considering all the time we put into case prep it's really a non-issue. When I first got mine in about early 2005 I let it dispense out 50 charges and then reweighed them each manually on the unit's scale. None were more than .1gr off and that was only a very small percentage. I loaded rounds today and I think 2 had to be dumped back in the hopper when the unit dispensed .1gr more than I asked for. It's possible that the scale just drifted but when this happens I just dump the charge and throw a new one. I guess there IS one issue I have with it. That damned beep. Y'know I once fired my Rem700VS .223 for 30 minutes and never noticed I wasn't wearing my ears? But this thing shrieks. I love to take it apart and muzzle it, and would if I knew how. Before I got the Lyman 1200 I was using the Lyman digital scale. I think maybe it's called the 300, I'm not sure. I still use it for weighing slugs. Before that I was using the RCBS 5-0-5,I think. I still have it but it's been boxed for 4 years.) -Rod-

I use the Lyman 1200 and am very pleased with it. I have been using one for 3 years now. I experience the occasional drift too and I think its inherent with these types of scale,Pacts, RCBS's) do it also. Its most likely caused by magnetic interference from fluorescent lamps or radio signals, cell, cordless phones). I can live with 2 charges out of 100 that drift. I agree, easy solution to just dump it back in the hopper and turn a new one. That beep from day one I wanted to kill it with a stick. My neighbor two houses down could hear it with the garage door closed. Take the base off and connect a L.E.D to the speaker terminals -or- glue a piece of rubber with a tiny hole in over the mini speaker. It works!

look at this www.quick-measure.com I use one and while it is not a replacement for a digital scale it will meter large doses of rl 22 and h4831 surprisingly consistent.

How does the base come off? And does anything else have to come off or will the top lift off in it's entirety? -Rod-
