Which muzzle break to get for my krieger barrel, 6.5 x47

Need some advice about which high quality muzzle break to get for my Krieger barrell. The barrel measures 0.900 at 30 inches so I need a break that can be turned down to this diameter. I am thinking about getting a VAIS with fluting and diamond finish, but am not sure if this is the optimum choice - looking for high quality. This is for 6.5 x 47 rounds for 1000 yd BR shooting. New to this, so need help selecting a high quality break. All comments are welcome.

You sure can not beat the price, or the way they work for that little bit of money, when you buy a Harrell's brake..... Plus I like the 32 TPI they use for the threads.

Here in South Florida most all the 600 and 1,000 yard matches are won with these on the end - either regular or tuner model.

Put a Tubb T2K brake on with the jam nut, not only is it an excellent brake, but its also a barrel tuner, I have one on my 260Rem and 308Win.

Whats nice about the Harrells is that they are only $30.00 and they do what they were made to do...

You don`t need to look any further than right here as we have 2 members who offer these for sale. I bought the first one from John11/87 and was very pleasantly suprised. I wanted an aluminum one as well and found member ROCKJAG4 makes a Vias style that impresses me each time I use it. Both of these guys offered custom thread pitch and diameter. Buy with confidence.

Vais IMHO are the best. Yes they cost a bit more than Harrel, but these brakes are quieter.
I would also choose the 6X47 Lapua over the 6.5X47. Quite a few more 6X47's being shot
at Williamsport over the 6.5's.

+1 for Harrel's. Just put one on a Krieger barrel myself. 1.250" to .900" barrel with a 30" overall length not including break and chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua as well. Ordered the 1" break and it turned down beautifully. Have not shot it yet, but have had a Harrel's break on a 7mm Rem Mag and it reduced the recoil to equal about what you would expect from a hot loaded 22-250. HUGE recoil reduction and still shot 2 loads in the .1"s

Mr. Harrel is probably one of the nicest people you'll ever deal with anywhere. Excellent machining, backs everything 100%. Unbelievable that they are only $30, and that INCLUDES shipping. You order it, he mails it to you, and if you are happy, you send him a check. If you're not happy, you mail the break back and don't have to worry about a refund because you don't pre-pay. they come right out of the machine, so they need to be finished by a good smith, but they are very precisely machined and they finish out beautifully.

Most breaks will do the job, I have a couple KDF's and a couple Vais breaks, if you intend on using it for 1000 yard benchrest or any other type of benchrest make sure it doesn't discharge any gasses rearward, That is not legal at most clubs.

As far as fit and finish, they sure look good when they are turned to match the contour of the barrel but after about the 3rd time you replace the barrel you will no longer get too excited about the finished look. It gets a bit expensive replacing a Vais break with every new barrel. On a custom hunting rig that you expect a barrel to last several years is one thing but if you plan on shooting between 800 and a 1000 rounds a year you'll probably replace the barrel every other year or so.
