Which holster for 1911? Thoughts?

I cant enjoy them under glass. the only wear i've ever had was up front on the slide, the usual holster wear, on the finely blued colt. gives it character to me. it had it when I became its caretaker it in the 80's it and hasnt got any worse.
I totally get it Dusty, I love vintage Colts especially NM and war guns with correct parts and numbers. Your right on being a caretaker of a Colt - it's your turn
Best Regards
Jim

I also have a ww2 production govt marked colt. it was turned into a NM pistol in the vietnam era. I am the caretaker for it now being entrusted to that job by the team member himself. it had some junky sights added to it during the 80's by a son that im guessing is the reason I became the caretaker. I have been wanting to put originals back on it since the 90's but havent got to it just yet.

i'm not much on listening to guffeys trying to sell their 22 shells and steel case pre-war ammo. I havent ever shook the bushes looking for the correct sights and never really trusted a gun show peddler to tell me what is right- its just a back burner thing I guess you could say. i'd love to fix it but just never got around to it!! do you have a picture of the correct sights?

Maybe' -this is my go to edition it has a ton of information perhaps you could order or send a picture I could thumb through for you. I've helped a couple of buddies go over there's part for part starting with the serial numbers.
I would recommend you keep your numbers off the internet of course

I'll let you know next time I get it out. like I said it went from a ww2 trench model to the armory to be issued to NM team so it has tons of mixed up parts and i'm not sure the serial number will help since it was changed 30yrs after it was built. but those sights on the cover there are what came on it originally i'm 100% sure

Speaking of clowns at the gun shows every time I've been interested in a war gun I break out the book and it only takes a couple of minutes to discover it's a Frankengun that would dbl the cost just finding the right parts

All the original NM colts were converted they should have there own barrel and bushing stamped etc.
Not the same as some clown slapping it together in the garage.

yes it has all that but has some high adjustable i think williams sights on it that a guy did in the 80's. everything else is straight as issued because the guy is still alive and remembers it all.

I am a fan of Brommeland Leather. When I got his holster, I cleaned out a lot of space in my drawer.

That said, holsters are like shoes in that what works for one doesn't work for another.

I'm not a 1911 guy, but all of my Sig P220's are wrapped in Brommeland while carried on the belt. Gary is a master holster maker, but they only come in black as of now.

El Paso Saddlery makes very nice handmade leather holsters. I have one for my 1911. Lots of good leather holsters out there, but El Paso gets my vote. And, yes, make sure you get a gun belt made for holster use!

I like the Strong Side Select and the Dual Duty
