Which Hawkeye Borescope? 17" or 22"

I'm wanting to buy a borescope, but not sure which one. My XTC rifle is an AR with a 28" barrel and it seems that with the 17" scope from both ends there will be about 1" in the middle that I can't see. My Tubb rifle with a 30" barrel will have about 3" that I can't see, (I measured 17" from the muzzle and the end of the action) Am I doing this right? Can you get more than 17" from the 17" scope? If I am right, should I not worry about the middle that I can't see, or spend a few hundred more and get the 22" kit? Thank you for any replies.

Phil if you screw that tube off you action and look at it you'll do just fine. You won't have to do that normally anyway the throat area is what you really want to watch in my opinion.

Phil: Johnny is correct, the throat is the most important area of concern, and by looking into the chamber end and the muzzle end you will be able to see all the important areas. Both of the Hawkeye borescope I bought (gave one to my son) are the 17" Deluxe focusing with the hard case. Bought them both from Lester Bruno, each came with the $75 rebate, and cost delivered to the door was approx. $620 each. It' s matter of personal opinion, but I bought the 90 degree eyepiece, many like them, I did not, and sold it. The Hawkeye is probably the single best investment I've made, has more than paid for itself, and it will open up a whole new world for you, not only for the condition of your barrels, but also for cleaning methods, products and the results they may (or may not) produce. If buying a used rifle, ( the ones described as "like new"), it can also save you a lot of $$$$. :)
