Hawkeye Borescope Video

Has anyone added video capability to their borescope? I've been toying with buying one of the flexible video borescopes on EBay. I can get one from $40 - $100. I think that I can machine an adapter and attach it to my Hawkeye and hook it up to a laptop and record the inside of my barrels. It doesn't look too difficult. Has anyone done this?

I looked at using the Snap-on video inspection scope, but the heads wouldn't fit in a barrel under .33 caliber. I called snap-on to see what they thought about making some smaller heads but they didn't think there would be enough of a market for them to pursue it. I used this system to scope a .338 and it worked out great; you can use the handheld monitor or hook it to a television or computer. I liked it a lot better than the conventional borescopes but like I said you can't get heads for the smaller caliber barrels.

I believe Gradient Lense Company already makes the adapters and such... A shortrange BR guy I know casually has a set up that was used to scope my barrel and displayed on a monitor. If you can display it, you can capture it..

Yes Gradient has a video accessory ........It costs over $3000.00. I just bought a USB flexible borescope with video capability for $27.00. It comes with drivers to use with a laptop. I am going to machine an adapter and couple it to my Hawkeye borescope eyepiece and I should be able to record and view the bore of my barrel using my laptop. I'll let you kow how it goes.

I was considering a right angle viewer for my Hawkeye Borescope. But....I couldn't justify the high cost of it $259.00. I couldn't understand how it could cost so much. I wasn't about to spend that kind of money for something that looked so simple. So I looked into a different option that I could live with.
I cruised EBay looking for a used one. Maybe I could get one for a little less if I could find one on the auction. I stumbled onto a lot of camera right angle viewers that mount directly to a SLR or digital camera. This got me thinking. I could buy one of these and machine an adapter to mount it to my Hawkeye Borescope.
I bought the cheapest one on EBay for $9.91 plus $7.20 S+H for a grand total of $17.11. I machined an adapter and put the three pieces together. They are fitted together with a light press fit. I works perfect!! There is also a fine focus on the right angle viewer. 8)
So lets recap......$17.11 for the right angle viewer, 1 hour machining time, nothing for piece of aluminum just laying there, If I value my time at $50.00/hr I've spent $67.11 and saved myself $191.89.
It makes viewing the chamber end of the rifle barrel very easy.

I'm still waiting for my USB video endocsope to arrive. I'll let you know how that works.
