Which do you like better? Alpha or Lapua

....... and a rather less subtle change in SRP brass. Alpha (Starline too) retain the Large Rifle primer 2mm flash-hole diameter whilst Lapua and Peterson use the smaller ca. 1.5mm version as per the BR and 6.5X47L. This makes a more than subtle change to ignition/burn behaviours and pressures, the large-diameter version increasing them. Alpha says it tested both versions and found the large flash-hole 'better', but doesn't specify in what way(s).
I have ask several HOF shooter and they say it does make a difference. I'm only concerned with 6ppc, and the 30br. the rest have little interest. Only accurate rifles our interesting.

Its all great unless you cant get Lapua in your caliber. My point was that Starline was $40 dollars a 100 vs $150 per 100. I need to get 15 firings to match 4 of the starline.
If you are not loosing your brass & provided you shoot enough, I expect Alpha will exceed your criteria. Though you will likely benefit from annealing case necks if done right.

Alpha dasher brass is a fantastic product.
Tough as nails and will last until your tired of looking at it .

I bought a 100 when it first came out, it shot well.

So I picked up 200 more, they were a different lot but measured up well.
I tested a handful and they shot incredibly well.
I loaded up the rest of the box and proceeded to win a 600 yard ibs match with “fresh” brass!

I can only speak to their dasher brass, it is very good.

I just got a box of Alpha 6ppc brass. I loaded next to Speedy at the TackDriver and he seemed impressed with it, enough so that was what he shot there. For me, time will tell.

Lapua, I had problem with heavy bolt lift with 6bra Alpha brass even after significantly reducing powder charge.
Lapua is always my first choice but when I can’t get what I need I’ll use Peterson or Alpha, been using quite a bit of ADG lately too.

I’ve had occasional problems with most of the brands of brass here and there, including Lapua.

I was going to do a good work up on the Alpha 6PPC brass Sunday, but the Monsoon Season has suddenly hit us. Can’t test in the rain.

I am disappointed in the Peterson 6BR. It’s too thin to use in a .272 no turn chamber, and when blowing them out to fit my .330 neck, to achieve an ideal .0097 wall thickness, there is still shadow on half of them. That, and the base is a little small.

Others love it.

I used Alpha brass in my 6 Dasher and got had 8 or 9 reloadings on it when I sold the rifle. The primer pockets were still tight, no other issues (but I am careful not to "overwork" my brass). I am now shooting a 6BRA and am using Peterson brass. I am at 4 firings and am very happy with it. I've used Peterson in both a 243 Win and 6.5 CM previously and had no issues after lots of cycles.

Rumor on the street is Alpha 6ppc brass can take max powder charge. And primer pockets hold up as well as the.200 line. Have no care on other calibers.

I am coming to understand or belive that if we keep our loads sane - Alpha, Lapua & Peterson brass when available will serve us well. In most cases if Lapua is available I do still feel Lapua is generally the best offering to be had.

I have experienced doughnuts in lapua 22/250 and 223 brass after not many firings. Been running Peterson in an 6xc with 9 firings on them. No doughnuts, no loose pockets

I don't own a caliber that doesn't use Lapua as the parent case. Over the years, I'm guilty of running a couple too hot. The brass life suffered in some but 6.5x55 has been the worst for me. I'm running a 6.5x55GWI and the lot # I'm currently running has not impressed, even with mild loads. I wish there was some tougher 55 Brass available. Other that that one, I have been impressed.
