Which Currently Made Scope Stand Do You Like? And Why?

I thought this was recently asked by another member.
Right now i'm stuck with my Craftsman tripod for my Celestron C70 mini Mak.
One of these days i'll upgrade the stand.

Giraud. Compact (folds up nice), stable, 1” diameter tubing. I did add a RayVin outrigger head which is no longer made. The Gear Buggy unit would be the closest to a Ray Vin I have seen on the F class line and I think the RV was the best.

Getting opinions on spotting scope stands that are currently being made.. and why you like it.

Gearbuggy.com - Solid, sturdy, and very well made in Kentucky. Good guy to deal with too. He cut my mast sections so they would conveniently fit in a plastic tool box.

FWIW, I love love love my RayVin but 90% of the time I only use the RayVin head and this compact tripod. It lets me easily transport and is rock solid on the ground. He still sells the head only so if this is the kind of setup you're looking for it can still be bought.

what kind of "tri-pod" is it?

And then in the video you'll see how I made a simple post to mount the head onto.

FWIW, I've owned the Giraud (it's great too), Creedmoor Polecat (a great stand as well) and also a GearBuggy (also great) but they just weren't what I was looking for at the time. You really need to get behind the different stands and see what works for you. These are all built very well but all adjust differently and depending on how you shoot they may be perfect or perfectly awkward to adjust on the fly.

They are!
The limiting factor would be how low you can set it up.
Would need a head adapter also.
Yes , I would think this type of tripod would be for field work not so much for the bench. Just very adjustable and rock solid when set up.

Doc, its not currently made (I don't think?) but still have this Freeland/Argus setup.
Don't know anything about F-Class to know if it would be of any use there or not.
Anyhow, let me know if its of any interest.

Keith,

i won't be shooting "F-Class" till i can't hold the rifle.. till then.. going to be prone..

on another note, i think that i will give the guy in Ky.. a call and see what he allows

This one’s a gear buggy. I have the long extension piece. It holds a Kowa Prominar 883 up just fine. I ordered it with the quick disconnect and the brass drop rod that screws into the black ball and hides inside the shaft sections. 0EAD6C6E-62F1-425D-9E7B-575CE4783E4E.jpeg

if u are shooting from the bench go to home dept & get a pipe clamp. put scope on ball head --- ball head to clamp. works good no movement from wind. good luck beak [steve]
