Which bullet for PPC at 300yds?

I have the opportunity to do some shooting with my PPC at 300yds and for the last few years have just used my stock of 66gn Berger LD fb bullets for these longer ranges. I have not had the opportunity to try any of the newer Berger Column bullets or other custom bullet, but was wondering if regular short range BR shooters change to different bullets for the 200 or 300yd ranges? Are there any which are considered to be better for the long ranges? (My current barrel has 14" twist)

My PPC is a 12 twist, so keep this in mind when reading this.

I've shot mine competively at 300 & 400yds. I was fortunate enough to stumble on to some Precision Ballistics 68gr BT bullets and was able to tune them to not only shoot lights out at 100, but also very competively at 300 & 400 yds. Thus no real need to "change" bullets when going to the longer distances. One of my shooting partners has the same set up and he found the same to be true in his PPC and his 14twist 6br.

No guarantee it will work in your rifle, but it might be worth a try on their 68's or perhaps a lighter bullet of theirs in a BT configuration. WD

Shoot the best: http://www.bartsbullets.com/products/barts.html Try the Ultra or the Ultra Boattail. No need to change out bullets from one yardage to the next. Twist? From 13 to 15 with 13.5 being the most common for the 6PPC. Gain twist barrels are also an option although you might not detect much of a difference if any.

We have a 100,200,300 yard varmint match a Lawrence Co. Sportsmen Club and I shoot the Generic Brand Bullets made by Gary Conaway they are 66 gr. BT 8 ogive in a 6ppc. They shoot very well at 300 yards I have shot 1/2 inch groups at 300 yards in competition with these bullets.

I had not heard of the Precision ballistics bullets before and they certainly offer a few types. I might look into some of these and some Barts boat tails to try. I didn't know if others used boat tails for the 200-300 and flat bases for the 100?

I SHOOT THE 68GR BT BERGERS IN MY 6PPC SHOT 1/2 GROUPS AT 300YDS ALSO W/N-133 AND H-322

I shoot and have won several times at 300 yards with a plc. My bullet of choice and keep in mind I have tried several other bullets with great results, would be the Berger 66 and 69 grain high bc bullets. Very pointy, probably a 9 or 10 ogive. I don't think Berger even makes these bullets any longer, but they are fantastic at 300 yards in a 13.5 or 14 twist cut barrel. Shoot what you have though, you'll be surprised. Lee
