Which bullet for 6BR 12 twist..

Just picked up used 6BR 12 twist barrel from a forum member. This will be in a savage pta action for use as a fun gun, paper punching etc...

Never played with a 6BR. It is a 12 twist savage takeoff.

For the 12 twist, which should be the first bullet I try?

I'm having one built as we speak and I'm going to run the 65vmax, the 70gr BT or the 69 Berger.

Probably will play with some 55 noslers as well...for some prairie dogs

+1 on 80gr Berger. Should work with a variety of powders. VV N135 is a good choice.

Broncman, I've got a Savage LRPV with a 12 twist and it shoots the Berger 68gr. bullets in the low 1's consistently. Seat them .017 jammed and with a heavy dose of IMR-4895. The hotter the load the tighter the groups. Try it, You'll like it!

If it were me, I'd be trying either the Barts 68 gr Ultras in both the HPBT and FB (being pushed by VVN133) which I shoot out of my Savage Benchrest Model 12 1:8 barrel. But then I shoot only 100 yd targets.

Another vote here for flat base 80 gr berger.
They shoot awesome in my 12 twist 6br

The 80 grain Burger shoots great in mine too. It's hard to beat the 75 grain Vmax for price and accuracy in the field, but I use the Berger for match shooting.
