Which "budget" rifle for rebarrel project

My old man wants a new deer rifle, but he wants it in 6xc so a rebarrel is in order.
Which of the current budget rifle fodder has the best features for a run of the mill hunting rifle in an odd duck caliber?
I was leaning RAR mostly for the bedding block stock, but read about alot of magazine issues that gave me pause.
What are your thoughts?
Wieght is of some concern, as hes not planning on hitting the deer with the rifle itself!

For everyday shooting the $380 dollar R700's are hard to beat and I think your dad would be well served by the good old plain Jane 243 Win. Ammo, components, bullets, reloading data are very common, and the round feeds butter smooth from the mag. The xc will just suck a lot of money with no gain for shooting deer. We're so over run with the stinking things here that I rank them lower than mice and rats that have invaded one of our corn cribs.

English threads on the Tikka? How about aftermarket parts availability? Triggers? Stock?
Now Dale. They have all kinds of aftermarket parts for Tikka’s now. Not as many as for Remington, but enough to satisfy me and my smith has no problems making me a new barrel.;)
Now, finding them for $400 is hard. If you do, buy it!

Add: I just perused Gunbroker and there are 8 nice guns still under $450. You might find a sleeper nobody’s bidding on?

Ok, guys. Here’s a gun to roll the dice on. It looks like a good deal. I have the exact same gun (Thanks for the stock, Dusty) so I’m hesitating on this one. I don’t see too many Continentals for sale these days. Depending on the price you put on the scope, you get the gun for cheap! Purty nice set up, ready to go!;)

C’mon Dusty! You know you want it! I’ll tie my fingers until the 8th.
Let me know if anybody here bids on it and I’ll keep my hands off it!

A used 22-250? From Florida? Run Forrest. Run!

In the airplane business there's a saying, "Don't buy an airplane even if it's only BEEN to Florida".

Ahh! Live a little! Check out the pics! Not a spot of coral on it! I might have to buy it just on the chance I could prove you wrong!;):D

Worst case is you put a new barrel on it. That would make a fine 6xc for a total around $1350.

Stainless? "maybe". Chromoly? Not a chance.

Better: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/794767359

There's a few new ones on there for less money, even in stainless. The scope isn't much of a sweetener. I couldn't sell that fast enough. :D
Atglen headed.
It’s gonna snow! What happened to the “cautious guy” I was just talking to?o_O

Dusty thinks like I do. I’ll take the old flat bottomed 595s over the T3 any day!
