Which BR?

I have a Rem M700 in 6mm Rem that I would like to rebarrel to a 6mm BR. There are several variations of the 6mm BR. Which is the most common and/or the best for use in informal bench rest competition?

I'd have to say the 6BR would be the easiest to load, hardly any brass prep, just load it up and have fun.

I'd pick a Std 6mmBR with a 60 thou throat, Lapua Brass,CC-450 Primers and go to shooting.

6mmBR Norma is the most popular and the answer you were looking for. If you go with a no turn neck, go .272", if a turned neck is desired than a .269" would be my choice. For the 105-107 bullets, anywhere from .103" to .113" freebore will work. I have .113" in my 6BR but we just ordered a Reamer with .103" freebore so we could chamber the 95 BIB's as well. A .262" neck would mean multiple passes with the tool, it would suck. My 6mmBR has a .269" neck and I can clean up the necks with one pass, I have a 6XC project in the works though, .272" no turn neck for it.

Get a chamber cut for a Lapua "no turn neck", or life will get bad real quick. I neck turned 1,100 pieces of brass for a 0.262 neck :, :,

I can't see getting a tight necked rig for anything short of a full blown Comp rig.

No huge advantage to a .269" over a .272", I just like turning my necks for the uniform neck tension it gives. I think Jason Baney proved that a .272" neck shoots good and can win in comps. My 6BR is a comp gun and thats just the way I went. Would I do it again, my new reamer is just that, a .269" neck so, yes I would do it again and again.....etc.

If you get a neck turning tool the Hart Tool is real nice as is the Pumpkin Tool. A .269" neck is just a single pass clean up, no big deal. Good luck and good shooting.

Mark Schronce just shot the smallest group EVER at 600 yards: 5 shots in .749". He shots a BRX with a no-turn neck.

Mark says his SD is single digit. He experimented with a slight neck turn and found zero accuracy advantage.

Spoke to him yesterday and he says he's pretty much gotten rid of all his neck-turning equipment.

For the PPC crowd, who use short bullets with prominent pressure rings I think turned necks can have an advantage. I personally think that thinner necks take longer to work harden, so if you're reloading your case 15-20 times, the thinner necks might stay consistent longer.
