which Berger would you try first 6BRDX

Krieger .236 8 twist 28 inch barrel throated for 105-108 class bullets 6MM BRDX,,shoots the 105 VLD Hunting very well but about out,,on average which 105-108 Berger bullet shoots the best lot to lot loaded out the box with no sorting, pointing or trimming??I had 2 100 count boxes of Hybirds with different lot# and the lengths were all over the place from the different lots

I know every barrel is different but on average which bullet would you try first,,seems lots of records set with 108s and lots of matches won with VLDs,,

would like to order 500-1000 so if I get lucky and they shoot I wont have to search to the end of earth for the same lot #,,

The VLD's may very well be the most exasperatingly, finicky bullet there is to tune. However, once tuned, there is little that can match it for pure accuracy. Try the Berger 105 VLD in the lands 12K to start. You may very well be surprised at how well that bullet will perform.

VLD's are easy to tune. Jam then 10-15 thou or jump them 40. Hybrids I think are harder to tune. They often shoot well, but then not quite good enough and dont seem to get better. Then the next batch you get are all different sized bearing surface and pressure ring diameter. Plus with a straight 8 twist the hybrid is probably borderline on stabilisation according to berger. If you can get some, try the 105 JLK or the 103 vapor trail.

I like both 108 and 105 VLD, but considering your type shooting at steel, the 105`s will get there quicker, with great accuracy. The 108 tends to be hard to achieve speeds past 2920 to 2930 in the improved case and maintain accuracy. This may just be my certain lot number of 108`s as I started with 2000 of the 2477 lot #, done shot up 1/2 of them! They do have a longer bearing surface.

OK I will get a 500 box of target VLDs and load them to 2975 with Varget,RL15,H4895,and 8208 and see if I can see a trend,,

I would like to try and find a lighter bullet load to shoot eggs at 300,,I really like the looks of the 69 flat based high BC varmint and the 88 gr version of the same bullet,,might try the 55 NBT and 65 VMax also,,

I like trying different bullets,,

how old is your lot of 108's Berger shortened the 108's and dropped the bc I think about 4 years ago . the old are about .020 longer bearing surface.
I run the 108's at 3020 with varget.

Re: TRY E.P.S. 106 GR 6MM BULLETS IN YOUR 6BRDX

If you would like to go to a handmade more consistant 106 gr 6mm bullet give Jamie Eazor a call at 814-590-4383. I used his bullets this past year with good success. You will find weight and ogive measurement much more consistan than mass produced bullets like Bergers. A little more money but to me well worth it for a higher BC plus the consistancy. He can also be reached at eazorpercision@verizon.net. Jamey has a real passion to make great 6MM and .30 bullets. I had sucess all last year out to and including 1000 yds with them.

The older lots had a part number of 243108 , with a BC of 527. The new lots PN is 24431 with a BC of 511. I've had the new ones up past 3100fps with rl15 and 4350 , don't think I ever ran the older ones over a chrono.
