I was just wanting some opinions. Barrel maker, twist, cut rifled or button? 4 groove or 5r?

Thanks
Kevin

I believe he is asking about the 30BR. Most use the 17 and 18 twist. I love my Rock Creek 17 twist. Most of the manufacturers sell good 308 barrels. It is easier to make a good one in 30 cal than the 6mm and smaller.

I am shooting a brux 30BR barrel right now and it is showing real promise. I just broke in a bartlein 30Br barrel for a fella and man oh man it was hot!! When it comes time to buy anew 30 barrel i might try a rock or another Brux. I really believe in the fellas at brux barrels. Lee

I am considering a rock creek. But I've heard good things about all the makers. I guess it's just making up my mind on which one.

I am shooting a Rock Creek 17 twist with 5R rifling and it shoots very well. Per Rock Creek, if you decide on a 5R barrel, you should shoot bullets with a shorter bearing surface for a given weight (7 ogive not the 10 ogive). I think any barrel you get from a premium maker will serve you well.

All things equal doesn't the 10 ogive have a shorter bearing surface?

Yes the 10 ogive has a shorter bearing surface. I can drive them faster with less pressure than the 7 ogive.
