which AR SEMI AUTO to get

I want a AR SEMI,which brand name is the best one to get,and what caliber.i may want to put a after market barrel on it to.

Well, it might be tough for you to get one these days! When you do decide to get one, I would highly suggest a Rock River of any flavor you like. I have a NM A4, and also a A4 Varmint flattop. Great guns!

My brother and I have DPMS's we like them, sure seem to be well built and accurate. Mine came from DPMS with a JP trigger installed 130$ option, well worth it. We use them for varmints and predators, mine is a MOA shooter. Bros is a little tougher to get there with the stock trigger. Look at then all and pick the options and style you like and buy it. I don't any of them are "bad" firearms, seems to be a Ford and Chevy thing. JMHO

Jerry, I agree with you on the RRA. They shoot great. Bill

I like the Rock River rifles, I wish I had one now. They're in demand and the price is up now.

The Colt AR's hold value the best, and they function well out of the box, but most of the good clones are more accurate.

I don't remember which ones they are, but some time back I believe I saw AR's advertised that guaranteed 1/2moa. Maybe Les Baer? Check out the ads in Shotgun News or what used to be Gun List.

Good luck, Tom

If money is no object look into JP rifles, but I have both a Rock River Arms 223 flat top, scoped) setup for varmit hunting 24 inch barrel and a dpms for military match with detachable carry handle top and 20 inch barrel, both 223's wilde chamber the upper for it,dpms) was built by a company out of Florida, I'll have to look it up I can't remember the name off hand but that's all they do, it has a kreiger barrel. I am thinking of getting a 6mmar upper for my RRA rifle.
Both rifles shoot under a 1/2 moa.
Both have the same aftermarket target style trigger groups, timeny),sorry for the spelling).

For what I have invested in both AR's you could probably almost buy one JP Rifle.

that's the upper assembly I have. The gun will definitely shoot better than I can see with iron sights.

I bought just the complete upper from them and built the rifle from there, put in the trigger group, installed on the lower myself).
If you want go to ar15.com and there are a lot of info on that site, but good luck in buying one now, prices are sky rocketing with the fear of what the new prez will do.

I have a Rock River Arms EOP Elevated Optical platform with a 24" floating varmint barrel and it shoots my reloads into 1/2" at 100yds. Effective rage for the .223 is out to 300yds. Works wonders on PD's!

I think that you should try a little further than that....
I've seen many that have been dropped at 800-900 yds. with a .223 Rem. I wouldn't be affaid to shoot at 1000 yds. with mine.

Any mil-spec parts are fine. Truth is that there are only a few companies that make all the metal AR-Parts. If you want an accurized AR: Get the .223 chamber to begin with-- it is a little tighter than the 5.56,the wylde is a good option too-you can shoot .223 and 5.56 Nato in the wylde). Put a Heavy Stainless Steel Barrel on it,chrome and moly are for longevity and not as accurate). Buy a good aftermarket trigger like a Jard. Handload or buy Black Hills. Buy some decent mags and engage in some ballistic expression AR-style.:)
