which short action cartridge out there will move a 100 gr Barnes TSX the fastest?
I want to have one built.
Thanks.

Only one short action cartridge comes to mind, the .25 WSSM. It's living on borrowed time and I don't think it is any faster than the .25-06.

The only other cartridge that I can think of would be a .257 Roberts AI.

Any wildcat. Considering the 25 creed but looking at options.
Wondering about a 25/6.5 Rem Mag.???

Here are a few short-action wildcats:

Left to right: 250 Humdinger (has a 45° shoulder and uses a 243 Win. parent), 25-284 Win., 25 Rem. SAUM 35°, 25-300 WSM, 25/53 SMc (WSM parent). I don't shoot any of them, but I would assume either of the WSMs would be the most potent of the five here.

Those are some good ones.
I can't get too crazy with the case head as I'm starting out with a 250 Savage & can only open the bolt face so much. Ruger M77.

They were all equally enjoyable. But of all those i built for people the 257stw is still in service more than the others. If you like the ballistics of a 100gr soft point or 100gr ballistic tip flying about twice as fast as it really should its a good choice. I know a deer at 200yds dont have a chance

Why not the 250 Sav Ackley Improved?

The 250 Savage A.I. is an excellent wildcat. However, the OP was seeking the fastest short action 25 cal. cartridge or wildcat. The 250 Savage A.I. wouldn't be as fast as the 250 Humdinger, yet alone the other 4 faster wildcats in the photo.

Why not the 250 Sav Ackley Improved?

I had one once from a shade tree smith, was buggered up; left a bad taste in my mouth. Nevertheless, I believe same ballistics can be attained with the 25 Creedmore without having to fire form cases which to me would be a plus. I'm still learning.
P.O. Ackley did state it was probably the most effecient "improved" cartridge of all of them.
It appears that I'll be limited as to how far the gunsmith can open up my 250 Sav bolt face.

If 100gr is your primary focus.... 6 creedmoor? SAAMI reamer is made for those long heavies with a .183 FB. And won't have to open that bolt face.

I love a good .25 though.

Its going to be many years before i ever get into a 25cal again if i ever do. Built a 257wby, a 257stw and a 250sav ai and the bullet selection made me regret it every day

Yeah but, what if all the hype about Blackjack Bullets turns out to be on the up and up?

HERE A GOOD ONE 25 SOUPER IMPROVED (25-08) OR A 25BR WORKS PRETTY DARN GOOD SOUPER IS A NECK DOWN 308 CASE TO 25CAL AND FIRE FORMED ITS A OLD ROUND BUT IT DOES THE JOB
