Where's The Beef

Shooters
There are some great Threads on this Forum. I know I have written some of them. What's holding you guys back? Takes a lot of time to put together a good Thread. But all I see is bunch of hits on the read side but very little on the response side. I'm holding off writing until I see more action. Not what I suspected over here.

The thing is that you write so well and cover the subject so completely that there is no need for comment except to thank you for a good read and good information. As you said lots of people reading so that's good in itself we are all looking for good information and if no one is disputing what you say well that's good enough for me.
I my self am quite willing to listen to people who have been shooting bench-rest much longer than I and will ask questions if something isn`t quite clear.

Is it that we just don't have many members yet...Perhaps we need a general discussion forum.. Perhaps a humor forum. Political forum.
My cat pissed on the carpet forum.

This lack of post has had me puzzled for over a year.

What do you think it is?

We need you to liven things up.

Thanks for you guys for what you do Post. This is the response I expected. Makes me wonder how many writers left after no response. Apathy is the tool of the Devil.

Stephan - dude - I can't even come up with an intelligent reply to most of the awesome articles and posts on this site!

You benchrest guys measure and weigh things so small that I can't even comprehend... The nuances of BR rifles and loads, and the resulting itty-bitty groups are things of wonder to me...

I like a good rifle, favor Krieger barrels and either McMillan or walnut stocks... Cartridges that will cleanly take predators, deer, elk or bear...

My loading process is pretty much size 'em, prime 'em, fill 'em w/the best powder I can find and top 'em with a reasonably accurate bullet...

Big concession to accuracy for me has been to go to a little arbor press, Wilson dies and trimmer, and to purchase Nosler bullets and Varget in bulk for my highpower match shooting. For me though - if I could hold 1.5 MOA through a course of fire, and 1 MOA on the prone stages - I could win every highpower match I enter!

I find 6mmBR.com a constant source of outstanding information, some of which I can apply to my hunting and highpower match shooting... Much of it though just leaves me shaking my head in appreciation for the attention to detail performed by the BR guys in pursuit of ultimate accuracy... Keep on posting - I'm out here reading, wondering and shaking my head... Amazing stuff you guys are doing!

Regards, Guy

I try to answer questions when I can or add to a thread, but as for benchrest I try to stay out of it. The politics is one of the reasons I got out of it. I learned a lot about reloading and shooting small groups which I try to pass on to other shooters who want to learn. I like to hunt varmints now and they don't get to politic about the pill they are about to recieve!:D

I don't think BR techniques are that hard to follow. Not all we do in BR need apply to other shooting. Weighing powder is done by a small group. But they can justify it because they have a system. Most of us have a good powder measure to throw loads. Bullet seating depth is important in BR loading. Loading varies among shooters. I could say you don't gain anything from improving your loading technique but you can lose if you can't tailor an accurate load to the days conditions. BR with the PPC dominating about 98 % of all calibers used has become a game of shooting technique not cartridge experimentation. To win in BR you must be hungry and make the least mistakes on the target.
The Super Shoot coming up is worth studying no matter what your shooting discipline. You will see 400 shooters shooting the toughest Sport in the shooting world. Check out the equipment list later and notice the bullets used are a wide variety of custom and home made. Primers and powder will be dominated by only a few manufacturers. Scopes will between 2 maybe 3. Barrels a tossup but still the old guys barrels are there. So what it boils down to is the winning shooter will be he or she who avoids all the catastrophes a 7 relay shoot can present in probably a rain storm. I have my personal favorite but only because I like the guy. I will say his name. My favorite will be Ron Hoehn.
Guy and Snake Eye could be competing and doing well in BR in 6 months. As far as benchrest politics forget the instigators. One of those comes to San Gabriel and I will be all over his ass until he leaves or conforms that includes myself. I have no tolerance for anything that disrupts my Shoots. Let it be Said. Let it be Done.
