Where's all the new 25 caliber bullets?

Come on man ! Ken your birthday must be on Black Friday....
Close, but not quite.
Day after Veterans Day. 11/12.
Wife 11/19.
Daughter 11/25.
November is busy in my household. ;)

Ordered 5 boxes of the freshly discontinued 25 cal, 75gr Sierra HP Varminter.

Any use the 110 gr tipped gameking/gamechanger yet?

i had no idea these things were that long! 1.247”. Sierra says 1:10 twist or faster but using the berger calc, i dont think its gonna work for me. Being a polymer tip, does that length count for twist rate calcs being that most of the weight is concentrated in the body of the bullet and the tip is pretty light? Not like a conventional vld or jacket? This thing is longer than the 115 berger vld

The calculator isn't based on the tipped poly bullets. I found that measuring the Hornady ELDs and putting the data in the calculator shows I needed a faster twist but they stabilized great in my barrels. The TGKs will run just fine in what Sierra claims.

Nobody has mentioned the 110 Bibb BT bullets, I am finding them to work quite well in both a 25x47 in 9 twist as well as a 25 Creedmor

Bullet stability is a relative thing...not only to twist rate but also to velocity, air density, temperature and elevation. If ur are on the cusp twist wise shoot them faster if you can safely do that.

Absolutely. Everyone must know what their elevation is that they'll be using the rifle or plan on using it in on occasion. Elevation is the next best thing to twist rate for stability.

Yeah the berger calc already includes all that.

i loaded up some tgk’s in my 257 rob. Shall see if they group at 100, then move out to 550 ish. They are long bullets and someone told me the berger calc does work with plastic tip bullets so i should only see marginal stability. i guess i’ll find out

Wow, you got some already?!

Everywhere i look is "not in stock".
Please keep us posted on how they group.

I have the standard 1:10 in my 257 Roberts. Shoots the 110gr ELDX, 115gr Berger VLD, and even the 120gr Sierra HPBT GameKing well.
I wouldn't think i would have any issues with the 110gr TGK.

Your TGKs will shoot fine in a 10twist. If Berger 115s stabilize in the 10, the TGKs will easily.

You can order them right from the Sierra website. There around 52.00 per 100 plus 12.00 shipping. Pricy but they'll be out soon. Same price as Midway

Midway had them for like 2 days. I found them looking for 30 cal tipped gamekings so i bought some. They sold out quick

these are long bullets. They are like 1.246” long. Thats very long for a 110 and longer than the berger 115. I guess the real test is if i take them out to 500+ yards. Im sure they may work ok at 100

They'll be fine. The Berger calculator isn't super accurate with the poly tipped bullets. Sierra says a 10 twist will work.

The TMKs work great for hunting also. I use the 168s in my 308 and they kill wonderfully with excellent bullet performance. Maybe they'll eventually have a TMK in the .257. Numbers are pretty impressive on the 168s. Pushing the 2880 from my 308 with excellent accuracy. I'll be trying the 110 TGK in my 25-284 once it's finished. Should be a good one.

Here's the thread we posted earlier!

Did initial development today with the 110 TGK and 257 rob. 100 yards to get an idea on powder and velocity. I decided to try reloder 23 and i have tons of 215M primers for my wsm so loaded some up. I usually use re19 but wanted to try 23.

winchester +p case. Standard 257 roberts chamber I believe. Lands i found at 2.943” oal or 2.415” base to ogive. I loaded to 2.400” so .015 off.

  1. 44 grains fps-2869 2861 2877
  2. 44.5 grains fps- 2899 2898 2886
  3. 45 grains fps2957 2951 2962
  4. 45.5 grains fps- 2962 2954 2968
Groups 45 and 45.5 shot real nice. 45 was a triangle about .5 moa. 45.5 was 3 holes touching in horizontal like string, about .3-.4 moa. Velocity flatlined there so i think it will like that charge. Couple seating depth tests and i think i’ll be happy here. Its exceeding what I expected for velocity and group so far. These may be hot loads, its a 20” barrel but everything looks good. Light bolt, no ejector marks, primers seem ok to me but im no expert
