Where to shoot High Power Rifle around Arkansas

There are three places I know of and probably more.

Benton Gun Club ( www.bentongunclub.org ) shoots 200 and 300 yards once a month, but with no pit area.

Jefferson County Gun Club shoots 600 or 1000 yards once a month at Camp Robinson*, NLR, AR.

Central Arkansas Gun Club shoots 600 yards prone and Across-the-Course once a month at Camp Robinson*, NRL, AR.

Here is a link to these and other Arkansas gun clubs, but the description of the Benton Gun Club facilities at this sight is incorrect and there may be errors for other Clubs also.

Memphis Sport Shooters Association, Memphis, TN, ( http://www.memphis-ssa.com/ )also shoots 600 yards prone, 600 yards bench rest, and Across-the-Course monthly.

*Camp Robinson is a Arkansas National Guard post and requires a Day Pass. To obtain a Day Pass, you will need your Drivers License, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. Also you will need to have a stated destination for your visit - in the case of shooting it is Range 13 or Range 11.

Awesome!! How about Oklahoma, Texas and Missourie? I live south of Ft. Smith, I am a member of a local gun club that has CMP out to 300 and they use reduced targets to simulate 600 prone. But they say that Sporter type "T2K, Eliso R5" are not great choices as they tend to heat up to fast because all the shooting is done in 2 to 2.5 hours. Which is cool but if I put in the money and time to build a XTC rifle I want to freak'n use it at my own club right...Hmm I will have to see. Thanks for the info.

In Oklahoma we have prone matches in Tulsa and OKC. Tulsa Red Castle Gun Club has both mid and long range and OKC Gun Club has mid range prone and XTC matches. I will post our programs when I get home and also some additional info for Little Rock

I tend to think that the advice about not using a tubegun for the reduced courses is BS. A tubegun in 6BR or whatever isn't going to get any hotter than an AR. Don't let stuff like that sway your decision on whether to build a tubegun or not.

I shot AR service rifles and spacegun/MRs for years, and enjoyed them a lot. But I've also had a lot of fun shooting a R5 & RTS tubeguns the past several seasons.
