Where to shoot Fclass this weekend!

All of my shots for record were in the black, and I was happy for it.

More important, I was proud of my son. First time for us to shoot a 1,000 yard match and he had 8 X’s in the first match.....with a .223 no less

I was on the same target with your son, I was pulling targets for him when he shot his 1st string. That little .223 was shooting well when the conditions allowed it. He shot 3 shots in a row in the middle of the string that were in a 1 inch group in the X ring. It got tough with a .223 when the wind really kicked up in the 2nd and 3rd string but he did well overall. He's a good young shooter that will only get better with more experience.......;):)

It was great meeting some of you folks that I only know from the forum. Looking forward to the next time

I've been chomping at the bit to get down there and shoot...hopefully things will work out in the next few months.
Be careful what you wish for! First time I went the wind broke the target frames and last Saturday I shot a 574-10x and was happy with it. I think that was the high score. FTR was brutal.
Big fast switches and tough mirage. Good place to practice your wind reading skills!

Good shooting with you guys Saturday, it was a blast. Yeah, it can be tough there at times. Jason Peel and I were both the highest scores in FTR with 563..........It definitely wasn't a hold center and pull the trigger type day......:D......Last month was the same thing score wise, I finished with 564 and the month before was canceled because the frames were breaking as you well know. I think as we get closer to summer time the winds won't be as bad there but the heat/humidity/mirage will still be fun to deal with.......:D

Doug, I'm just happy to have place to go shoot a real 1k match that isn't a 8hr drive...4hrs almost seems like my backyard.:D

When guys like you, Jade, Jason get beat up it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out it was tough as heck.

The I did exactly that on my last round of the last match (I figured why not, considering the results of my wind reading and hold offs)

I was rewarded with a 7

Don't feel too bad, I was rewarded with many 8s and a gut punch 6 Saturday.......:D.......7 and 8s were pretty common from what I was seeing down the line......:D

I think they need to make a new smaller X-ring for F-TR being that the win boiled down to X count!. IIRC...566...decided by X count:p:p:p:p! Definitely very difficult to read in spite of good/plentiful/well placed flags. LRA is a humbler for sure. My bullets got so scared a couple refused to go more than halfway downrange:rolleyes:. My Missus has been saying she needs to come watch a match; I told her I had plenty of misses present. LOL

Hope you get to make it down soon Norm. They are running some double headers this year- 1000 on Saturday and 600 on Sunday...concrete firing lines for both and should be covered at 1000 this year. It is a well run match. Thanks Ric and Mahala!

Bill, I'm glad you both made it to the match. Your son did great for his first event!

Nice meeting and shooting with you both...well...at least watching on my end. LOL

Golden Triangle Gun Club, Beaumont, TX Saturday (tomorrow) 3/23

600yd 20x3 F-class/HP

At least 4 confirmed coon-asses to attend:D.
You know Robin, I attended that match almost every month for over 3 years! It was one of my fav places to shoot! AND there is not a better place to test out loads than in Beaumont! I think there are more shooters from everywhere BUT Beaumont, that attend Golden Triangle! LOL!!

Should be a good day to see a loads precision tomorrow Ben, light winds expected. I've never shot there but I like to patronize all the ranges I can.

Scratch that....now calling for 5-15/S. Still gonna be a great day!
I remember bringing several shooters from Bayou Rifles from time to time. They all loved it because most of the time the winds were "Light and Variable", perfect for load testing! However, I told Johnny Ingram about Golden Triangle and convinced him to go.. Well, he told me the few times he did go to test loads, the winds were ripping and whipsawing the bullets everywhere! How do you figure on that!
