Where to measure neck wall thickness?

I have a good tubing micrometer. Where along the neck do you chaps measure the neck wall thickness?

All factory case necks seem slightly thicker towards the shoulder than at the case mouth, so in that sense checking consistency seems like a crap shoot. Do you use some sort of stop bushing around the mic's anvil shaft for the case mouth to index against? And how deep into the neck do you want to measure?

I like many others use a Sinclair Case Neck Sorting Tool, Just install a Neck Pilot. With this tool I take the measurement about 1/2 way from the shoulder and case mouth. Works fine for me.... Tommy Mc..

Why not give the necks a light clean up with a neck turner for uniformity? Make them all the same without taper.

I'm not concerned about the taper. I am asking about how/where chaps measure wall thickness on factory brass.
