Checking neck wall thickness?

I almost ordered one of them but, it got some, less then desired reviews. The Sinclair digital Micrometer for $229 got some good reviews. Must be true...It's on the Internet!!

All 4 reviews on Sinclair's site are 5 stars. Where did you find some negative reviews? I'd really like to read them.

Edit: Never mind, the resolution is only .0005".

I did miss that. If the cheap ball mic is not on his list he might as well guess.

I can't really dispute that. I have the same ball mic you linked to. I had to make a depth stop for mine, and I could use a desk stand to free up two hands for using it, but it does the job.

Correction, that "ball mic" you linked to on Ebay isn't for small ID tubing, but it does have "ball" or hemispherical rather than flat contact points. It doesn't have the narrow post anvil we associate with our tubing mics.

If you look at the anvil on that particular mic, it really won't work for most case necks.
I wasn't against getting a ball mic. I've already asked at one local pawn shop. I was just looking for an alternative. I didn't know if there might be some sort of < $20 set of feeler gauges or tool I didn't know about. BTW, I solved the problem by chucking each case in the lathe and returning the necks.
