Where to by optics in Canada?

Hey every one. I'm having a hard time finding any places to by scopes in Canada. I'm looking at buying a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50PA.

Were are all the Canadians on here buying there optics? Aside from Cabelas and Wholesale sports.

Thanks everyone.

Have you posted and checked out the sponsors at GunNutz? Not familiar with that brand, but I see from the Optics Talk link below that it is rated the same as Sightron III and Sightron II Big Sky in quality. Peter Dobson at Hirsch Precison can get you pretty much any of the Sightron line, or Nightforce. I got a Big Sky 6-24x42 AO from Peter and it works very well.

Also this appears to be the Canadian Distributor

My guess is that Vortex do not make their own scopes. If you post in the scope section at Rimfirecentral, you can probably find out who does make them. MGT there knows about all there is to know about who the manufacturers really are.

Not sure where you are located, but Jo Brook Firearms in Brandon MB will set you up PDQ with a Vortex scope of your choice. They are willing to ship anywhere in the country, their website is still under development, here is their ph# and email addy:

Are there any big retailers in canada?

I don't think it is a very popular scope. The brand does not even make the ChuckHawks Recommended Scope List.

The note at the bottom of their list says:

"Now, hopefully, you will not feel compelled to write a letter to the editor to ask what we think about the "Brand-X Super Scope." We reiterate, if it's not listed here we either don't care for it or don't know enough about it to have formed an opinion. In any case, the scopes that are listed here represent a reasonable assortment and range of prices from which to choose."

stinky_lakehead...........Canada has 1/10 the population of our great neighbours to the South. So you are not going to see large retail outlets for shooting supplies in the Great White North. We have to go into survival mode and hack it the best we can.

I see a reference to GunNutz in this thread. Be aware that the OPP, RCMP, CSIS, CFO and the Lakehead Police if you have such are constantly monitoring GunNutz. They are looking for unlicenced gun owners, minors using handguns, non-compliant shooting ranges, prohibited firearms, gunsmithing modification of firearms and who knows what else.

Yeah thats to bad. At least I managed to get a nice rifle. Only finding a scope for a decent price is hard.

I guess it makes it that much better when you have to work to get something.

Wow. I rarely shop at these big box stores anymore. My local gun shop will order any Vortex/Sightron/Nightforce/Nikon/Scorpion, well any brand they carry really, if asked, even models that they don't normally stock. I had them bring me in an SIII 8-32x56 LRTD last fall, it was there in less than a week, and they'd never stocked it before. Plus it was $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find it in Canada.

Good luck with your search, hope you can find what you're looking for.

Yeah we have a few good local gunshops too. The one I buy from had good prices but the guy is a pain to deal with some times. Get stuck there for hours. Just easier to buy online.
