Where to buy cast lead bullets for 45 ACP

Looking for a good quality cast lead bullet, 230 gr round nose for loading in 45 ACP. Have not bought any in years and am not familiar with what's available. Thanks for the help.

I found some on bulletsdirect.com By far the best pricing of anyone around. 1000 230gr 45 ACP for $87.00 including shipping. At that price it's worth a try.

I have had very good luck with cast bullets by Bulletworks in Breckenridge, TX. I use their 200 SWC in my .45 wad cutter pistol. Go to http://www.bulletworks.com/

300 & Cort,
How clean are the bullets from Bulletworks and Bulletsdirect? I have been very happy with Meister Bullets but they are somewhat higher priced. I purchased a box from Houston Bullet Company and they were not clean at all. The bases were not uniform and had lead slack on many of them. The wax was not consistent and there were air bubbles in casting. The quality is difficult to determine from the little pictures provided on the web sites. I shoot lead in 9mm, 45ACP and 45LC and don’t load max.

Winchester, what Co is a too little hard? What problems could that cause? ???

Thanks for the help!
Robert.

A bullet for bullseye shooting must have a very clean, sharp base. The BulletWorks bullets meet this requirement. The sizing seems very consistent and the lubricant is evenly applied to the lube grooves. When I do my part, the bullets do very well in my pistol.

Thanks for the reply Cort. I don’t shoot competition but I do like to know what I am slinging down the barrel is good quality.

My comment referenced bulletsdirect.

Low velocities require a soft bullet so that their bases obturate (swell) to seal in the barrel. A by-product of poor sealing is barrel leading. A BHN 15 wants velocities above 1000, typically. It's a good match for magnum velocities.
