Savage 110 45 ACP

So I got the rifle together. Test fired only as of now. I did remove the ejector. It was flipping the case back into the lug area. Flips out fine with your fingers once extracted. May get to the range next week to do some real shooting. I added a EGW base and a budget 3-9x40 Bushnell.

Now you know why pistol caliber weapons have receiver mounted ejectors and not bolt face ones like on rifle cartridges ; ) Keep us posted! I like seeing these projects come to fruition.
If you decide to go with cast bullets a good 255 gr. 45 colt style bullet will leave a nice pass through on anything you are close enough to shoot. No need to push it with hot loads.

Well I got around to shooting this puppy at the range today. It is actually pretty fun to shoot. The removal of the ejector on the bolt was a good move. The brass extracts perfectly and you just grab it and stick it back in the box. Zeroed 1.5” high at 50 and I am about 1.5” low at 100 shooting a185 XTP.
I shot the 185 XTP loaded with 3 different powders to a +P level all shot well 1.5”ish at 100
The white box Winchester 230s were all over the place 3”ish at 50
My 230 cast load was 1.5-2” at 50 and just over 2”@ 100

Overall a fun gun to shoot. Would be great for critter control.
Would make a great rifle for kids to start with.

I am building a Savage 110 in 45 ACP. I am doing a 20” Varmint barrel. Adding a mag sled. Then a forest camo spike camp Boys stock.

Looking for thoughts on loading.

Plan to try a 200 and 230 cast over a good load of Unique.

I have some 230 Win HPs and some 185s in several brand.

Also should I buy some 45 Super brass and try to stoke it up just a tad more?

Let me know what you think.

plan to use this as a 22LR that shoots 230 gr bullets.
Should be fine with 45 Super. I found in mine that as I pushed it harder, the accuracy dropped off for some reason. I did have to use a stronger recoil spring but that wont affect your build. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Has anyone had a good experience with Rhineland that makes a conversion for Mauser and Enfield rifles to 45 acp. They make a kit with barrel and a savage type nut system, and all the parts to make a magazine adapter. I just have heard nothing but gripes about waiting for ever and not getting all the parts in the kit. Has anyone had any contact good or bad recently.

I believe I was the one that talked him into doing this but never could actually get a barrel delivered. So I had Louisiana Shooter here build the one I have.

I had one of their 450 BM barrels and it shot pretty good.
