Where does this belong?? More pics added

yes it is. Its the old home place. Family moved over from Hatfield during statehood. There are still a few old wooden slats and some wire from the hog pen left. My kids were asking me "dad -what are all of those big piles of rocks down by the creek about" I let them know that their great great great grandpa and his family piled them up in 1907 to plant corn to live off of. its a pretty place on eagle fork on the south side of kiamichi mtn

Butch, we've never met, but from studying that photo, it appears we're brothers of a different mother. I mean it, your cabin, everything in it, the music we grew up on, even the way you're dressed. I come from a ranching family in BC, and that cabin looks familiar even though I've never been in it.

It's probably a good thing we don't live closer together for our wives sake! ;)

A stove, slightly larger than the one pictured, has been our source of heat in our log home, for 30 years. Today, it's -9F and I'm burning through a bit of wood. When I built the house, I was going to put in a vent for outside combustion air and should have done so. As it is, the stove creates negative pressure in the house. Not good for efficiency. At least we always have fresh air. Nowadays, getting wood isn't as much fun as it was, so I might have to start buying heat. WH

That is really neat. That'll protect from those cold winter winds.
When I started building our house, I dug into the hillside and built the post and beam basement. Put on the floor then laid eight inches of insulation on it. I then built a temporary roof over it. We lived in the basement for two years until I got around to building the top. Living in the basement. with dirt on three sides, made for a pretty cozy structure. Warm in winter, cool in summer. Not much different from that dugout. WH

Oh, yeah, turn back that clock for me Butch. Turn it all the way back to August 3rd, 1970, when a 20 year old Airborne Ranger came home from his first tour in RVN. Home for thirty days, then headed back for a second bite of that apple. My Parents picked me up at the Airport, and after a few cups of coffee, my Father and I went car shopping. He was a lifelong Ford guy, but there were zero four-barrel Fords at the local dealership. We ended up at the Plymouth dealership. They had 19 new Road Runners in a row outside. Coupes, hardtops, and even two convertibles. Every color and engine option under the sun. Little outside my budget.
However, in the second row there was a blood red 1968 RR with a bench seat, column shift Torqueflite, 426 Hemi. $2650. A very short test drive, and we were back at the dealership signing the papers. Fill it up with SUNOCO 360, switch into jeans and a T-shirt, and clear the roads. I got 11 speeding tickets in 29 days. Aftermarket cassette player (remember them). Cruising to the Guess Who, Stones, and the Beach Boys. And, yeah, Eric Burdon and the House of the Rising Sun.
Then back to RVN for six months. Creedence Clearwater Revival had just released a second album. I lived in Southern Illinois, and one of the songs was "Just got home from Illinois, locked the front door Oh Boys...".
Two more short six month tours, and Sgt Me took his Honorable Discharge and went back to College. There are likely thousands of you out there about my age, with a similar story.

thanks for the memory,

ISS

WC Russell named that line of their boots after Wyman.
Man, I don't think you can do much better than russels. Wore several pairs of birdshooters out chasing gordon setters for 35 years. Finally told me they couldn't repair the last pair anymore. Love to have another pair but not many quail anymore and lost my last gordon three years ago. Hard to justify 700 bucks for just wearing around. Guess I'm just to tight!!! Lol. Really nice place you've got butch!
