Where did all the brass go???

So, I'm having a new barrel put on my tikka 25-06. going to stick with the 25-06, it's a deer killing laser beam. Anyway, I'd like to start with a nice fresh batch of about 200 cases, so i can sort and cull. Where are they? I can't even seem to find winchester or remington much less nosler or norma. Do these places only make a couple hundred 25-06 per year? Did I catch this at the wrong time or what?

Winchester has been making brass for the main cartridges in large but infrequent lots….Then when it hits the market, its gone in days sometimes hours. Keep your eyes open and be prepared to buy when it becomes available.

Added: Winchester recently had a run of 25-06 brass so if you look hard enough you might find someone with extras..

I may have some 25-06 once fired brass. PM me your address I will send it to you.

I guess the 30-06 would work. I have a sinclair neck turning kit and redding bushing dies, so i could tailor it to brass thickness.

You shouldn't have to ream tor turn necks. Try one piece and measure it.

The good old days of reasonably priced brass in inventories is gone and I doubt its coming back.

is the PRVI any good? i've read some mixed reviews on it. I'd like to get brass that is worth running in a custom gun. I hate to think that i'm losing potential due to inconsistent brass.

86alaskan,
where have you been the last 10yrs?
components have been in short supply prior to our last elected official fiasco.

oh i know, just so happens that my reloading has gotten to the next level lately. its not hard to feed the 45acp, 38spl, and 556. now i want good brass for my rifles its not so easy. I jumped on the first Rem 260 brass i saw because i couldn't find it anywhere else. God forbid I actually want the Norma 284 brass or lapua 260 brass. The 25-06 is the only one I really want brass for. My old 25-06 brass has about 10x on it, so its time to refresh and start from scratch with the new barrel.

Unless you are shooting Bench Rest I seriously doubt that you can demonstrate the difference in brass on the targets, ever. Now, if you are shooting a lot of hot loads losing primer pockets sooner is another story, but for accuracy, esp in a hunting rig, get what you can find and shoot it.

I neck my tons 30-06 brass to 25-06 & .270 win, load & go never had to worry about necks or other non issues in my Savage rigs.

When I had my 25-06 I don't think I ever owned a piece of brass marked 25-06 lol but that was back when you could pick up brass at the range as folks would just leave it BUT haven't done that in years. Later,

Kirk

Nothing wrong with prvi brass for a 25-06. Id go to all the sites that sell brass and get notifications when its in and get ready to pounce. Thats how i bulked up on 6mm rem brass

A shooting buddy ended up with some prvi brass in .223 from shooting a case of it. I had a chance to inspect it closely and it seems like quality stuff, but I don't have info on the accuracy of reloads yet.
