Where can I get Mini Boring bars-- Update

Just wonder where to buy small boring bars for use to prebore with when chambering.

edit--6/14-- well received one of the micro100 carbide boring bars the other day that guys in this thread recommended. tried it out today in an old stainless barrel chamber. Only ran it around 100rpm first time and used slowest feed rate. It produced a very nice finish and im sure will do the job i need. Still want to get a 5/16 bar that uses inserts but havent found many places that have them or what i want. Thanks All .

Yes I meant bars to prebore with so probably .30 to .40. I’ll look up the micro100 ones. Thanks.

For something in that diameter I would look into an indexable boring bar. Widia Circle Machine or Denitool makes Great carbide shank bars. You could try a steel bar but most likely get excessive chatter.

The Micro100 bars are great. If nobody local to you sells them, cruise Amazon occasionally. I’ve seen a given bar for $30 one day, and $60 the next.

I have a the Stets from Circle, Micro are good also. I have always been happy with the prices and service from Penn Tool Co

for preboring I generally use a standard solid carbide 5/16" diameter indexible boring bar. I have solid carbide boring bars in 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1". Usually it is good to use the biggest boring bar you can comfortably fit in the hole.
