when to rebarrel?

If you are shooting a rifle a lot it is a good idea to have a barrel on hand.

The true question is how long will it take your smith to replace the barrel when it needs it. The smith I used to go to (now closed) would let me put my order in and I keep my rifle until my turn was nearing. Then I would drop off the rifle. Then a few weeks later I would get it back.

The one I use now he does not like doing that at all. It really sucks to have your rifle at the smith for many more months than it needs to be.

I would think it would be a pain to have that many rifles at his place just collecting dust. This guy is cool he has a list and you get on it and you can see where you are in order. His system would make it easy to drop off your rifle when it is nearing your turn.
