When did Mini Gator bags get so expensive?!

The protector bags I feel are much better bags than the edgewood bags they are flatter and just seem to work better.

I like the Protektor bags also.
I always kind of thought the Edgewoods were on the high side. They look nice and probably work fine but Protektor has been my friend in competition.

The reason that protector bags are so expensive is because they charge whatever they feel like charging which psychologically have you believing that because they cost more they have to be better.LOL

When you get a stock that is perfectly straight, that is when you can see the difference in the bags. Protector bags will not track like Edgewoods will IMO. You must have a stock that is so straight that there is no noticeable movement in the crosshair during recoil. When its working you can run a group and not have to touch the front rest.
The issue with Protektors is the ears are too vertical and there is no support under them. When you put the gun in them the ears spread which causes them to lift in the center. The Edgewood ear shape is better, they have a piece of hard nylon under the ears and a bag inside the leather to maintain the bag shape. You have to use a dead bottom with them as the bottom does round but the dead bottom comforms to any bench top while the hard bottom of a Protektor bag does not.

I've seen 10 shots at a 1000y with a Protektor get squeezed off without adjustment from a fella that shoots as good as anyone.

Hey z I think a lot of it is how the bag matches the gun. We run up and see him and take the gun so he can measure it. The big bags won't move with shelve liner under them. He will make any combination of ears you want. Many different materials and sizes. Matt

Cost has nothing to do with whether a particular bag or brand of bag will work for you. Both Edgewood and Protektor can be bought with one, two, or three stitches between the ears. And, you can buy long or short ears. You can also fill, these bags hard or soft just as you can do with the ears. You buy the bag to fit your butt stock, not the other way around.
When did the Mini-Gator get expensive? I don't know.

Edgewoods can be ill constructed just like any other brand and have been. It happens sometimes. It's a very small shop.

Price are high because the leather is top quality and like everything else inflation is constantly on the move and affects all commodities including leather.

Protektor will supply the same bag at much less.
