Wheeler Laser Bore Sighter with Magnetic Connection

Curious how accurate this bore sighter can be. The magnet just sticks to the end of your barrel versus the standard type inserts into your barrel which seems to be a more accurate option. Is anyone familiar with the Wheeler brand. They are much more expensive than all the other brands

Bore sighting isn’t going to be ultra precise anyway. It’ll get you on paper. I’m sure it will work fine. Of course a magnetic device won’t stick to a stainless steel barrel.

I've used the Wheeler magnetic gizmo. My cousin gave it to me. It was worth what I paid for it.

I've also used the classic spud type and cartridges with LASERs in them. All of them are worthless - to me.

I'm old school and a minimalist. Just hang a large bull at 100 yds or so, remove the bolt and look down the bore. That's why it's called bore sighting. Center up the bull in the bore and adjust the scope to center on the bull. Yeah, you have to be careful to keep the gun aligned while you adjust the scope, but you'll be on paper when you're done. All for the cost of a paper target you can still use to shoot at.

There's no reason in my opinion to spend bucks on boresighting devices.

I have used the Wheeler laser for years, always gets me on paper, once in a while its dead on.
Some guns I have you can't look down the bore. Several bolt actions with negative comb stocks, most non-bolt actions, and single shot break actions are very difficult to look down the barrel and adjust.

I've used the Bushnell arbor type for years. I find it gets me on paper then adjust to where you want it. What I like about this type is after you have it zeroed to where you want re-put the bore sighter on and take note of where it is on the grid. If you move or bump the scope for any reason you can check to see if it moved and get it back to zero in no time.

400 series SST is magnetic. 300 series is not.

I have the green wheeler laser bore sight and love it. I used to be one that looked down the bore at a target and adjust the scope as needed, but as my eyesight is not what it used to be, this was my answer. It’s super simple. It takes less than 2 minutes to have the scope adjusted and ready to fire. Since using it, I can have any one of my rifles zeroed in 5 shots or so.

I usually do a simple bolt out, bore sight at 50 yards. Lever guns
and pumps, I use an old school Bushnell collimator.
