Wheeler/Hunter PPC Collaboration

So I can’t say that this rifle shoots as good as it looks. I shot the Tack Driver with it and to be honest, load development wasn’t even done. I only prepped 100 cases so the first 100 rounds were just fire-forming and letting the barrel speed up. Then I did some testing with another 75 shots and picked a powder charge and went to the match pre-loaded with a 175 round count barrel. I never had a chance to shoot it past 100 yards. I never got to seating depth or neck tension, just powder charge. The other two must be close because I didn’t shoot the rifle that well and it still managed a 4th place finish in the overall.

So I’m going to say it doesn’t shoot as good as it looks, it shoots better than it looks and it’s the prettiest rifle I own! Roy and Alex are two of the very best.

Dave.

An older friend of mine, now gone, built beautiful walnut stocks using hand tools, old school. They began with he an friends felling trees that had fancy grain, cutting them into blanks, storing them for years until they dried, and finally building stocks. Your picture reminded me of his shop and made me smile. People who do top level work with sharp hand tools are a very small group, and their methods are worth studying and recording, lest they be lost. This stock has amazing lines. I am truly impressed. It is nice to know that your level of skill still exists.

Boyd, I just posted the picture for @Roy H Roy did all the stock work on this one. I only did the action trigger and barrel work. Dave did the magic tune and trigger pulling :)
