Whats the story with X-Caliber barrels

Just wondering of the quality of the barrels they produce? Whats there story? Folks from other barrel companys started there own? Or is it just folks that started up ?

I have a bud who is well seasoned in the accuracy game who just put together a 6.5L. Besides shooting very well he says he can not find any copper in it.

I told him of a quality bbl that was available w/ low miles and he said he would prefer the X Cal. The one he just chambered shot very well. With my memory of late, I won't give group size.

Me? I have a .204 on its way from XCal.via Sherm on this board.

Could be the best keep secret in barrel making today. Have a .223 5R 7T in .223AI
Shoots lights out! Their from Montana if that tells you anything. Having a 6.5 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor this week.

They are from Kalispell MT to be exact. I drive by their facility all the time. I have never been inside though. Hard to believe they can make such nice barrels in such a small building. I have heard from several people who have used their barrels that they make a great product but I have never personally owned one. I will once the barrel on my 204 goes smooth. I will buy a new .204 barrel and have it chambered in 20BR.

X-caliber barrels are top notch and as stated earlier a very well kept secret. I have personally tested a half dozen of their barrels in the last year and all have been very accurate with minimal fouling and virtually zero coppering

Button rifled. I'm shooting one on a 6BRX. Excellent accuracy and doesn't copper. I have a few more on order. Good guys to deal with too.

Anyone know there recommended break in procedure? I should be breaking mine in in a month, when the build is done.

Chad I bet you will need minimal break in on there barrel. I would shoot a couple single shots through the barrel and clean after each one, see what kind of copper you get. Then start load testing with 3 shot groups clean after one and see the results if not much copper work your way up to 2- 3 shot groups.

My new F-TR Mid Range build will have a 28", 1:7, 5R, Savage type barrel chambered with 223 Wyld reamer on a Savage action, with a Boyds stock. My smith looked at the barrel with his Hawkeye Scope and was impressed. I plan to break her in as I do with all custom barrels. I use Lilja's meathod. Will post pics after I get her.

I have a new .243 I have not screwed on yet but have read nothing but positive feedback from shooters. My next .223 ftr barrel will be one.

I have a Savage prefit on order from Apache GunWorks in 22-250 for sons varmint rifle. Have heard nothing but good things about the X-Caliber barrels.
