What would You Build??

I have decided to put together another.

Already have the Bat- B action,
10 Twist 6mm Barrel #7 barrel
Jewell Trigger
McMillan stock
NF scope

My Intention is to shoot BIB 95 grain bullets.
I already have a 6 BR and 6 BRX

Looking at both the Dasher and 6 x47 Lapua.
Which would you choose?

Which Bat? Single port, dual port with a large or mini ejector port, Sako extractor or sliding plate extractor?

Action configuration may limit your choices.

I would go with the 6x47 Lapua. I was going to build a 6x47 Lapua, but I wanted to have a 6BR first.

Mntngoat,

I know 5 or 6 guys that built a 6 x47 Lapua for 600 yd Benchrest, and could not get them to shoot the way they wanted. Rechambered the barrel to a 6br or BR imp and would shoot well. These were barreled for heavy bullets not 95 gr. I think the problem is in the Small primer. This case is at the edge for a large primer. Some gun shoot well, some don't. Some are opening the flashhole a little at a time, and making things better.

I did the 6XC,before the Norma brass) and could only get 0.5 moa, that gets you nothing at a 600 match. The speeds were very close to the BRX. I now shoot 6BRX.

The Dasher is proven round, but very close to the BRX.

According to Quickload/Quick Target, the Dasher running a 108 Berger BT,BC of .546) at 3065 fps has 36" of wind drift in a 5 mph wind at 1000 yards. The 6.5x284 running a 140 Berger VLD,BC of .641) at 2970 fps in a 5 mph wind at 1000 yards is 38". The Dasher will, figures wise, shoot within the 6.5x284.

My Dasher will out shoot my straight BR all day long, from 100 yards, all the way out to 1000. The Dasher case, once fireformed, which isn't as hard work as some claim it too be) is a very stable case with its 40 degree should, and if not way overloaded, will go many firing between resizing or wearing to a point where the primer pockets get to lose. The Dasher holds many records, and is a very versitle round.

Edit>>>

I had my figures fixed up, and was looking at wrong chart. The 6.5 x 284 DOES indeed shoot instead the 6 Dasher at 1000 yards with the figures I give above..but only by 3" inches.....
