What Wilson bullet seating die to make 284 Shehane?

I'm looking at having my smith ream out a Wilson micrometer seating die with the 284 Shehane reamer I have ordered. What bullet seating die should I order that will work for the 284 Shehane? I assume the 6.5X284 would work but just want to make sure.

At first glance you'd think the 6.5x284 would be a good choice.... Until you go to actually seat bullets lol.. You would have to spin up a new seater stem... Not a big deal but something that'd still need to be done

Go with either a blank as stated above along with the appropriate caliber seating stem , or find one in any 7mm caliber that is smaller dimensionally than the 284 case such as 7-08.

Yes, the .284 winchester die is what you need. The 6.5-284 die will not work because it is for 6.5 bullets, so your 7mm bullets would not work as they are too fat.

Wilson does not make a micrometer top .284 Win. nor micrometer top die blank, but they make a replacement micrometer top to replace the standard cap. Page 4, bottom right hand corner or page.

Why don't you just order a micrometer top 284 Shehane seater from Wilson? I got mine over a year ago. They may not be listed, but they have or will make it for you.

If you are referring to the Sinclair/Wilson micrometer top (.0005" increments), the top won't fit the Wilson inline bullet seater.

As stated I was referring to the Sinclair/Wilson bullet seater that has .0005" increments.

Sinclair/Brownells sells the L.E. Wilson Micro-Adjustable Bullet Seater Cap but does not sell just the Sinclair/L.E. Wilson Micro-Adjust Bullet Seater cap. Two different animals.
