What twist for 30br.

Hello everyone.
I'm a new bee to this forum. Just bought my self a 6mmppc Sako and im loving it.
Now I have a left over 700 rem action and a 308 barrel that I was thinking about chambering into 30br.
The thing is that the barrel has the twist 1-12. Is that going to be an impossible combo with the 30br?
I have read that you have been using 1-15 to 1-18. I live here in Iceland and good barrels are hard to come by. Just wanted to make this for some paper shooting and some accurate hunting. So yeah would this be a really bad combo or..

Thanks for your time and knowledge, I really enjoy reading your threads here.

I think it makes more sense to leave it as a 308. You can still shoot the lightweight bullets but it will be able to shoot the heavier bullets to their design speed.

I feel the 30BR does it's best when you use it for what it was created for. Hitting the dot at 100 to 300 yds, ie BR score competition. This means lightweight custom bullets and the correct twist to suit the light bullets.

I agree with rayjay. The 30BR is a great short range accuracy rifle. I have a good one I use for benchrest score shooting. Amazingly accurate and easy to tune. That being said it is a 1:17 twist used for 115-125 gr bullets. A 1:12 twist will not work well. If it were me I would stick with the 308. I have 4 rifles in 308 and believe it to be one of the best all around cartidges.
